Why doesn't my new Garmin 200 have enough space for the 2009 North America maps update?
The garmin does not have any space on it for maps, any additional maps are stored on a memory
card. I don't see where garmin says the size limit of the card but in most cases unless it says
SDHC memory card, then the max is a 2g sd card, I think the models 500 and over can use over a 2g card.,
So it is the size of the sd card that you have in the unit that you have
that must be full.
What I was saying is the unit comes with maps on it, these maps can not be added to or changed, they are installed by the factory.
Your only option is to add maps to the sd card.
Now if you feel that the unit is missing part of the maps that are suppose to come with the unit, you need to contact Garmin at there website and tell them the problem and they should fix it. I have never tried to hack one of these units, so I would not know if you can wipe the units non volatile memory.

I'm not trying to add any additional maps beyond the 2009 48 North American states + PR that I'm supposed to have installed on my unit.
