A GPS reciever and you can't get coordinates?
I never thought to look at such a simple function when comparing.
Does anybody write add-ons for this thing?
Any tricks on how to get your cell phone to dump history, phone book etc. Audio is fine. Please send to [email protected] in case I don't get back here.
Thanks..
Mapsource (from Garmin) and 3rd party software ExpertGPS, are desktop software products that can both communicate with the c550 Streetpilot via USB. You can mark favorite spots by pressing on the map to record waypoints when you are there...and with the software, you can download GPS waypoints to the mobile unit. The waypoints show up in the FAVORITES section. The only place to actually see coordinates isin the desktop software...just not on the mobile unit. You can still use the unit for geo locating...just need software to prep the unit. This is a workaround, however, the desktop software is very useful for downloading internet waypoints as well.
I to have a garmin streetpilot c510 and i am very dissapointed about howyou cant get the co-ordinates. I would use themall the time. It would be great if garmin did bring out an update so you could. Is this possible.
I have the same problem. I need to navigate to broadcast towers on a regular basis. I think we should email everyone we can find in Garmin until they release a firmware upgrade.

If you mean, can you enter latitude and longitude coordinates on your GO 750 LIVE GPS device .... yes.
First you'll want to set your unit to accept coordinates. From the main menu, tap Change Preference, then select "Set Units" and select a Latitude and Longitude format in the "Coordinate display" screen, and then tap Done.
To navigate to a location using latitude and longitude coordinates, follow the steps below:
Coordinates can be entered by marking the waypoint and editing it. From the map screen, press the joystick down for 2 seconds to mark the waypoint. Toggle up to the coordinates and press the joystick to enter the edit mode. Make the changes to the coordinates to the new coordinates and toggle to OK, press the joystick to enter the coordinates.
The Garmin nuvi's were designed as automotive navigators and not really designed to be used as marine or outdoor GPS units with the exception of the nuvi 550 which is an all around GPS. The Garmin handhelds are recommended for marine and off road recreational use but it is possible to navigate if you know the coordinates of your fishing spot. To enter coordinates: Touch Where to? > Coordinates and touch a box to enter a coordinate. You can also refer to the manual for more information. nüvi® 215
If you know the proper geographic coordinates of your destination, You can easily navigate around your destination using the longitude and latitude coordinates or other coordinate formats.
Touch WHERE TO on the screen,
Touch COORDINATES from the list,
Touch FORMAT to change type of coordinates. Because different maps and charts use different position formats, the nuvi allows you to select the correct coordinate format for the type of map you are using,
Enter the coordinates and touch DONE.
That is how you find a position using the coordinates, but you have to be very familiar with coordinates to be able to use it.
Complements of the season to you over there.
The seller LIED! here is the review where it says this feature was disbled. Both the Trax 436 and 430 have a 4.3 inch widescreen making it easier
to see the navigation display than with smaller 3.5 inch units. As
there is only a single button (on/off) on the device, all data entry
through pressing the touchscreen display. There is predictive text to
help with some entry fields. One of the interesting design features
alluded to is Safety Mode which disables the touch screen above 10km/h
to ensure the driver has their attention on the road ahead.
A second of the interesting design features noted is the simple and
advanced navigation interface modes. It makes a lot of sense to disable
some more advanced functions, such as navigation to a GPS coordinate,
in order to make a simpler, less cluttered menu structure for the
average user. Incorporating text-to-speech capability, the Trax units’
voice navigation instructions include street names making it simpler to
check one is on track without having to glance away from the road to
the GPS unit display.

Yes, have you enabled WAAS on your 60CSx? WAAS is an acronym for Wide Area Augmentation System, according to the instruction manual an FAA funded service to improve overall integrity of the GPS signal through North America.
If you are in an area which is not serviced by ground stations, having WAAS enabled may degrade the signal from the GPS satellites. Try enabling or disabling this feature.
To do so, acess the System Startup Page. On the Setup Menu page, highlight the System icon and press Enter. WAAS is the second available setting on this page.
Make sure your batteries are fresh; I prefer alkalines in this model. Set the battery type in the System Setup Page, same page as noted for WAAS above.
Another thought is to be sure you have the latest Garmin software installed. Visit their site to download the latest and greatest, free, of course.
The solution is in the manual but however it is not given the prominence it deserves. It is talked about in passing and yet it is the most important thing GPS users need. One goes to the Pointer and uses the scroll up and down keys to get the coordinates aprt from other things like bearing, elevation, sunrise or sunset time, trip odmeter etc .
The manual should clearly show this prominently. I gave this GPS to 4 people and the manual and all failed to figure this out. This shows the instruction is not user friendly. The Old Garmin GPS would lead you straight into coordinates and the accuracy reading on the same screen display and this was simple.
Are you sure you're using the exact same format on GoogleEarth and your GPS?
GoogleEarth: save the waypoints in a KML file (NOT KMZ) to your computer, naming it appropriately. Go to http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/gpsbabel/ and convert the KML file to a GPX file, using their converter. They will present you with a file to download. Download it and send those waypoints to your unit and you'll be set to go.
Would really love to find a solution so that I can use my garmin c510 for all geo-caching. Really need those co-ordinates somehow.
How do I get GPS coordinates from the C550 receiver?
