After a couple of hours watching my Hitachi 42HDM12, it decided to shut off. Pressing the power button would only cause a relay to click on and back off, and after a few of those, nothing, not even the power LED. I opened it up and found one of the fuses blown. I replaced it, but the fuse blew again after a couple tries to power it back on. Still no luck tracing it down to the board level.

Hi,
If even trying the TV in another known good outlet, it still doesn't work, do a hard/full reset - turned off via master power or unplug for a couple of hours.
If all else fails, maybe you should seek the services of a qualified professional since this involves opening the unit, circuitry diagnosing and board/component repair/replacement.
Hope this be of some help/idea.Post back how things are or should you need further information.
Good luck and kind regards.

A pop is usually a power surge and you blew a board. If you take the tv apart, if this is it, it will be evident by the burn marks. You could have burned out the internal power supply as well.
Hello,
Convergence problems are usually caused by a diode on the convergence board. These little critters have a tendency to short out and cause the convergence to do strange things.
Obviously, this is not a job for the home owner because few of you know electronics. So, call in the technician to make the troubleshooting of the circuit. The diode costs $.98. The technician will cost you about $250. Don't ask me to explain it.
That's the way it is today.
The Zsus and or the Ysus boards are common failures. You can unplug the Zsus board from the power supply and if the power stays on, I would replace both the Zsus and Ysus boards.
I hope this helps,

plasma tv units use a lot of power ,well into the hundreds of watts 9 some big screens use up to 800 watts to work)
I suggest that you consider a new led unit which uses barely any power and you will get a remote with it
1.Press [stop]button on DVD player to Stop DVD Playback
2.Press the [resolution] button on the DVD player.
3.change resolution to 480p
if you get a picture in 480P, continue your setup of the DVD player
If you still have no picture perform the next steps (stop at the step if you recieve a picture):
4. verify the video input of the DVD player to the TV and reselct it on the TV
5. use Video cable to verify the DVD player is still working
6 disconnect/reconnect HDMI cable to TV
7. power off/on the TV
8. power off/on the DVD player
7.
5. turn off TV then Tunr
This is set automatically if your tv supports 1080i and the res is comming in lower there is nothin g you can do to change that. Otherwise its all automatic.
