Re: Maxtor OneTouch II external drive
You don't really need software to connect to USB hard drives...if its in device manager but not My comp....windows prolly could not decide on a drive letter to assign it....a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i taken etc...usually this comes from those all-in-one camera card readers...gimme a little feedback on this and we'll see if we can help.

If the OneTouch does not appear in My Computer
or cannot be found by Maxtor Manager, right click on My Computer icon
and select Properties, Device Manager, Disc drives, and expand Disc
Drives. There will probably be a yellow overlay over Maxtor drive, to
show it has a problem, so right click on it and select 'Choose drivers
for this device' to reinstall them. Without going online they seem to be
found somewhere locally on the PC and I hope this will do the trick.
You said it has stopped being picked up when plugged in so I hope this is note is relevantbut I don't think it is abnormal for it just to blink.

Also in case this helps, I don't find the OneTouch (Maxtor Manager) software appears when the driveis plugged in, so I think this is normal too.
You should look for an icon (a capital M within a blue disc) for Maxtor Managerin the taskbar, at the bottom right of the PC's screen.
Right clicking on this icon, (capital M), should bring up awindow with Maxtor Manager at the top.
Then click on the text 'Maxtor Manager' to open the program's window.
You can try installing the drivers for the hard disk. Usually XP and vista operating systems detect the drives and install the drivers by themselves. But sometimes there are compatibility issues, which then require manual installation of drivers. I wonder what the operating system on your computer is. Please get back to me if you need further assistance.
Hope this helps :)
