My television has no sound. I was watching it one evening and there was suddenly no sound. If I connect the DVD player, the cable, or cable box there is still no sound. My other televisions connected to cable still work fine. Someone told me to check to make sure the speakers were turned on in the "Audio Setup" menu; I can't find such a menu. Help

Go to the audio menu setup then find the sub menu speaker after that you will see some command indicates if you want to on or off the speaker, choose the on command to be able to hear the sound in your television from your dvd player.
if audio menu is not found the practical way is to check weather the speaker is good or bad. if it is good, suspect the defective audio amplifier of your television set. replace it to solve your problem.if audio menu is not found the practical way is to check weather the speaker is good or bad. if it is good, suspect the defective audio amplifier of your television set. replace it to solve your problem.

If there is sound, no doubt, its signal input is OK. The problem must be to your Tv itself. If the LVDS cable, the cable that connects between the T'Con board and LCD panel have a loose contact, this type of faultcan occur. Re-seat this cable once, and check. Connect the cable directly (bypassing the cablebox)and set menu to cable channels , tune to channel 3 or such and do you have sound now. if not the amp is out , you might just consider using external speakers as they will sound better anyway.
in the sound settings is the amplifer set to external or internal.
if thats not the problem.. the audio amp chip might be out. to repair this a technician usally replaces what is know as the small signal board.
your problem is in sound section only.
1 signal line for sound coming from vif section
2 supply to audio section.
3 component fail in audio output section.
4 loose contact in audio section
5 speakr & its connecting wire.
