Pictures saving to internal memory instead of memory card

I'm travelling to africa in two days and I went to borrow my parents camera. The camera saves pictures to the internal memory instead of the memory card. Tried to buy a new memory card only to find they don't make them anymore and I would have to special order them. Since I'm leaving in two days and don't have an address while i'm there, does anyone have a quick fix?

The camera can use up to a 2gb SD card as well as the Fuji proprietary card. Those should be readily available almost anywhere. If you are not in a big hurry you can buy 'em all day on Ebay & probably buy the proprietary XD card there as well.

SOURCE: memory card not working? ( fuji finepix Z20fd Digital Camera)

Hi there.

When you start using a memory card, you must format the card in the camera first...using the camera menu. If you don't the camera won't read the card properly. Try that and I bet it will work for you.

How to fix Internal memory card

Delete pictures from internal memory to make more space available. Better yet, insert a compatible memory card so that subsequent pictures go onto the memory card instead of into internal memory.
I'm sorry I can't tell you what type of memory card to use, since you declined to state what camera you're using. If you need further assistance, please feel free to respond to this post and specify the make and model of your camera.

I cant see good enough to read my manual, and my camera keeps saving my pictures to my camera memory instead of to my memory card. i want to know how to change this. also i only have like 10 pictures on...

To get your card to work, you must get rid of the pictures in the internal memory. Here's how: with no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, insert your card and it should work properly.

Can I download pictures from internal memory directly to my computer for a NIkon coolpix S570 camera? The memory card I was using went bad and the camera displays "This card cannot be used"

You can connect the camera to the computer with the USB port. If there's no memory card in the camera, the computer should see the pictures in the internal memory.

Alternatively, you can get a new memory card (you're going to need one, right?) and copy the pictures from the internal memory to the card, then put the card into a card reader and transfer the pictures taht way.

I took pictures on my camera without a memory card can i still download my pictures

I'm glad to provide the steps to transfer images from Internal Memory of the Camera. When the camera does not have a memory card in it, the images are saved by default to the camera's internal memory, which holds different amounts of images based on how many megapixels are built into the internal memory and what image quality and compression are selected in the camera's menu. Once a memory\picture card is inserted in the camera, the camera then saves the photos to the memory\picture card and ignores the internal memory.

There are two ways to transfer the images from the internal memory.

  • To transfer photos to a computer from the internal memory using the USB cable, first remove the memory card from the camera. Then, when the camera is connected, the computer and software will only see what is in the internal memory and transfer those photos or videos. During the transfer process, the computer makes copies of the photos and videos-the original images remain in the internal memory. After the transfer is complete and the camera is safely disconnected from the computer, the contents of the internal memory can be deleted by using the MEMORY FORMAT function in the SETUP menu in the camera's menus.

  • The other way to transfer photos from the internal memory is to transfer them to the memory\picture card using the BACKUP function in the SETUP menu. If there is no memory\picture card in the camera, the BACKUP function is grayed-out. During BACKUP, copies of the images are transferred to the memory\picture card-the original images remain in the internal memory. After the BACKUP is complete, the internal memory can be cleared by removing the memory\picture card and formatting the internal memory using the MEMORY FORMAT function in the SETUP menu in the camera's menus.

Note: When the camera is connected to a computer using the USB cable with a memory\picture card in the memory\picture card slot, the computer will only see the contents of the memory\picture card.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any additional help.

When you buy a new card for the camera do you have to do anything before start using it? I put mine in and pictures went to the internal memory.

Hi.

You have to go into the camera's menu and set the camera to save the pictures to the SD card, then when you take a shot the camera will save it to the card instead of internal memory. Your user manual will tell you how to set the camera to save to the card.

Getting an internal memory full message on my kodak easyshare c143 camera but it only has 9 pictures on it?

The internal memory is very small. You need to be saving the pictures to a memory card instead. However, Kodak cameras have this nasty habit....once you save a picture to its internal memory, it won't save to a memory card. To make your card work, remove it from the camera...go into the camera menu and find "format"....follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory....insert your card and it should work properly.

My dsc-w80 keeps saving all of my pics to the internal memory

Set camera on playback mode, you will see any saved picture in internal memory. Insert memory card and lcd screen will show you either blue screen if memory card has no picture files or will show you picture in memory card. That means memory card is intact with camera and ready to store fresh picture.
Set camera to camera mode and take few fresh pictures and check them in playback mode.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Why does my kodak easyshare sayng internal memory full when I have A 1GB memory card in the camera & know that I have pictures still left on the memory card.

It sounds like it is not recognising the card is inserted - there is an icon on the LCD, if it is going to internal it is a picture of a camera, if it is internal memory, it is a box with an arrow.

Try taking the card out and in a few times - this can clean the contacts. Also try another card ( borrow one ? )

Also there is a setting on the camera SETUP to tell it where to save - make sure it is set to AUTO, best of luck.

Saving Pictures

My camera has a setting buried in the menu somewhere and you just select "use card" instead of internal memory. There are only 2 options, internal or external. You'll find it.
