Unable to run backups & the set up restore button does not open

Usally there is in blue ''back up now'' when you open Retrospect Express and you can click it to start backing up files, that is not on the open screen. Also, the set up / restore button does not work, so I remove it and reloaded the software to be sure I had it in the computer
Windows XP correctly. It loads just fine except for the same problems described above. It's like it has no drivers to make it work from the software any more, so what can I do to make this work? I bought this unit in '06 and I only turn it on when I want to do a backup once a week. It's vital to my Home Office work in case my main computer goes down. Please get back to me ASAP > Carlos Messenger

I am experiencing the same problem. Running diagnostics found no problems with the external drive. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software without any issue twice. However, the problem still exists.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Beth

Try mapping that drive as a network share under windows XP. This is done from "MY Computer" Map network drive. The set up your backups to back up the network drive you have created. If that does not do it then there is a contention between vista and xp as to the owner of the drive. Making the drive a mapped network drive should resolve this as neither should have ownership. Thats my best quess without knowing in detail your network setup.

My computer was stolen. It ran Windows XP. I purchased a new computer that runs Windows 7. I backed up my XP data using Retrospect 6.5. The software is not compatible with Windows 7, but I installed it...

Can you borrow a computer that is running Windows XP, and restore your files to it?

Then, you can use a router to "network" that computer with your computer, and copy the files across the network, from that computer to your computer.

Forgot password to acess< and or its still default setting. could you tell me what the wireless 700 routers default password is

Restore Factory Default Settings When you restore factory default settings to the base station, you clear your Internet connection settings and any special base station configurations that you have established. After the restore is complete, you will need to reconfigure your base station settings or restore these settings from a backup file. You should restore the original factory default settings only under the following circumstances: O You are experiencing serious problems with your base station, and resetting the base station does not fix the problem. O You cannot remember your base station password. In this situation, you must restore the factory default settings by using the Restore button on the base station, and then use the default password admin to log on to the Base Station Management Tool. To restore factory default settings 1. Open the Base Station Management Tool, and then click Management. 2. On the Management menu, click Back Up and Restore Settings. 3. Under Restore factory default settings, click Restore Factory Default Settings. While the original factory default settings are being restored to the base station, the Power light on the base station turns orange. When the light is solid green, the settings have been restored. If you want to open the Base Station Management Tool after the settings have been restored, type admin as the password on the Logon page. Do not attempt to log on to the base station until the settings are restored and the Power light on the base station is solid green. After you restore the factory default settings to the base station, you should navigate to each page of the Base Station Management Tool and reestablish the network settings you want, or restore the base station settings by using a backup file. For information about creating a backup file of your settings, see the following section. Be sure to establish your unique base station password as soon as possible after restoring the factory default settings to prevent unauthorized users from logging on. For more information, see “Change the Base Station Password.” please rate this answer, thanks

EMC Retrospect Express HD It was working and now it is not and is adking me for my original password to change the setup. It is not backing up to My Book

Your My Book World came with a CD that included the Retrospect and a program called MioNet (may be installed as WD Anywhere Access powered by MioNet). You can find your Username and Password by running the MioNet program, and going up to Help > Backup Info. If you have an old version of MioNet you will have the Backup Info button right on the interface on the upper right-hand side, it's a square button.

I don't know how to access my Western Digital Backup. I have no icon to click.

hi

If you have a WD Media Center, Dual-option Combo, or Dual-option USB external hard drive, you can use the Retrospect Express software that comes with the drive to create a backup schedule that will backup your data onto the drive.

To setup an automatic duplicate schedule in Retrospect Express 6.5 on a PC, please follow the instructions below.
  1. Start Retrospect Express by pressing the Automatic Backup button on the front of your Media Center external hard drive after you have installed the Retrospect software and powered on and connected the drive.

  2. You will be presented with the Western Digital Automatic Backup Wizard. Click Next to continue.

  3. Highlight the drive(s) that contains the data you wish to backup and click Next. To select multiple drives or folders, hold down the Ctrl key and make your selections.

  4. You will have a choice to backup your documents only or all files, make your selection and click Next.

  5. Highlight the drive you wish to copy your data to and click Next.

  6. You will have the option to run the data duplication daily or once a week. Make your selection and click Next.

    • If you choose a daily duplication, you will have to select the time that you'd like the duplication to start each day, then click Next.

    • If you choose a weekly duplication, you will have to select the day and time that you'd like the duplication to start, then click Next.

    • If you wish to run the duplication one time when you are finished setting up the schedule, check the Start the backup now box and click Finish. Otherwise, just click Finish.

    • You will see the Automatic backup button glow a solid blue. When the blue light is on it indicates that the automatic duplication schedule is enabled and your duplication is set to run at the scheduled time.
For the duplication to run successfully, you must have both the computer and drive powered on and connected correctly at the scheduled time.
