Go into the device manager, click on View > Show hidden devices. Look under unknown devices or under USB for unknown devices. Also check under the section relating to the type of usb device. If you find an Unknown Device, or a device with an exclamation point, right click on it and uninstall. Disconnect the device, reboot and install the drivers/software for it if any. If it's still not working check it in another computer. If you cannot get it to work in either machine, the usb plug of the device is probably damaged. Possibly a loose solder joint. Have the manufacturer send you a new one if its still under warranty.

SOURCE: My USB device is no longer recognized
Seen this happen many times...it stems from a corruption of the plug and play drivers enumeration key in the registry...the fix is quite elusive...the key is cheap...pick a different brand to replace it with save yourself the grief of fighting this battle. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: Mi USB device is no longe recognized
Well the fact that it says it can't load the device but sees it, is a pretty good sign actually...first off check the drivers for the device... good luck

SOURCE: My USB wireless device is no longer recognized
Hi, I have seen this type of thing B4, & it sounds to me as if your USB WiFi has gone faulty? Really the ONLY way to check is to try another USB WiFi unit.

Thanks! But the device is OK, when I put it in my pthet computer it works fine, but neither of the two adapters works well in THAT computer!!!!
??????
I used a tip from another site, namely to erase at the device adminsitration panel the host controler PCI to USB, and it worked, but when I shutted down the computer and it reinitiated the next day I was back at the beginning!!!!
I am afraid to buy complete new equipment, new router, etc,. and have the same problem at short time....
Any further advice will be very welll received!!!!
