Epson LQ 590 Label Problems

Using Corel Wordperfect label program, first label prints fine, but others are not centered correctly on the label. Okidata 590, previously used, worked perfectly and we are at a loss for solution. Attempts to change page setup margins, etc. failed so far

Make sure the option for bidirectional printing is set correctly.

Try it both ways

Make sure you are not printing too far to the left or the right - the print head can hit the end of its run and lose its place.

SOURCE: epson LQ -590 PRINTER PROBLEM

  1. You text page is larger than the printer page,
margins are set wrong, or there are special
formatting marks and/or characters at the end
    of your documents.

  2. Check default printer paper-size settings:

    START --> Printers & Faxes -> Chose printer -->
    right-click --> properties --> ....

This sets the default settings, that are in effect every time
    an application starts up.

Also note, that if printer settings are not listed within
your START menu, you can find them in the Windows
control panel. You can change what shows in the
START menu and what doesn't by right-clicking the
    task bar.

  3. Now start your application and do the same thing under
    the file menu:

    File --> Print --> Settings ...
    File --> Printer settings ...
File --> Page setup .... and also margins. etc...

This sets the actual settings for this application or the
current document. These settings over-ride the global
    default setting in item (2)
  4. To clarify, the settings in item (2) should be setup to
reflect the way you use the printer the most often.

The settings in item (3) reflect the actual document you
    are trying to print now.

  5. Be careful that the paper size settings (3) accurately
reflect the paper in the machine, do not confuse
    metric sizes: A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 ....

with English sizes: Letter, Legal,..... etc

These do not line up exactly.

  6. Also check your document, to make sure that there
are no extra characters at the end of your document:

Paragraph marks, Page Brakes, Form Feeds, etc.

Also check the paragraph settings (in Word for Windows,
for example, to make sure that is not the cause of the
    problem.

In word for Windows, for example, you can also go
into tools, options and change the way your document
is displayed, such that all formatting marks become
visible (or click on the paragraph tool)

  7. Finally, most Windows applications offer some kind
of print PREVIEW facility, so that you can see what
you are going to get, before you physically print it.

I hope this solves your problem, please rate my answers.
Good luck.

SOURCE: HP Deskjet F2180 Margins incorrect for label printing

I eventually managed to print my labels one sheet at a time by forcing the label top edge down the page. You can insert one or two lines above the label template and adjust the font size to get the right distance. It took a bit of trial & error but got there in the end. Hope it helps you

SOURCE: How do I print just

I assume you are using a sheet of labels, such as the typical 3 x 10 sheet. Word sets up the mail-merge document for printing the whole sheet, so if you print just one or two labels, you will `waste' the rest.
One way of using that sheet over is to create a mail merge that contains blank `dummy' addresses. It is rather involved and at best time consuming, and considered not worthwhile to save a partial sheet.
I service printers, and personally do not recommend that any label sheet be re-used. The printer curls the paper, in some cases fuses it, and causes the corners of the labels to be exposed, and possibly get caught in the printer (I have removed a lot of labels from inside printers)

How to print only one sheet at a time not all sheets

This can be a little tricky. If you haven't used any of the labels yet, simply put the address in the first label and simply print. The printer will print the address on the first label and all you have to do is remove it and put it in place. Next time you need to make another label, set up the program that you are going to use to print the label and once the "Avery 8168 Inkjet" label is on your screen just move the cursor to the second label (With Corel WordPerfect just hold the ctrl key and hit the Enter key) and print your return label. Using this procedure you can use one sheet of labels without having to print all labels at once or using a new sheet.

WordPerfect only prints to manual tray on Brother HL-5370DW

Close WordPerfect. Clear all printers. Go to Registry Edit and browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Corel\14 or whatever version you are using and right click on the "PrintEngine" folder and rename it, e.g, "PrintEingineOld." I discovered this shortly after I posted my inquiry.

Epson model CX4800 - will not print anything from "word"

I can't say I've experienced this problem myself but a little google searching indicates you are not alone.

The problem is not your printer but WordPerfect.

This troubleshooting document may help:
http://corel.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/corel.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=754014

My guess is that the steps titled:
- Restore WordPerfect stored printer information
-
Add the Print Engine to the Startup Folder
- Enable Bidirectional Support for the Printer

... are going to be the most relevant.

Hope that helps.

First line not printing

It sounds like you are trying to get too much onto the labels or onto a sheet of labels. Try a few pages with a size smaller font and if that solves the problem, the issue is too much info for the epson to fit on.

WP will push the limits of any printer if you make it do so like this and the printer maker may have rounded the specs in the driver.

Update your driver.

Try changing from inches to cm or points etc to see what the limits are.

Then respect that the printer can do no more with that particular driver.

Good luck
