Re: machine is not making stiches
Probably nothing serious. I suspect it is incorrectly threaded. Check the needle is in right and rethread top and bottom according to the manual. There are some good youtube videos showing this if you do a search there.

Totally rethread your machine, pay attention that your thread is not tangled and your needle is fresh and the right size. You have a great machine, and if you need a manual go to Singerco.com and you can buy one for $15., well worth the money. Good luck and give your machine a little tlc with oil etc.
(A)Put in a new needle and rethread from the beginning. Make sure the take-up hook is threaded. Also, (B) clean lint out - sewing machines have very small margin for error when lint pushes everything out of alignment. Mostly, it sounds like your thread is stuck somewhere, which can even be at the spool, so (A).
Hi! Statewide Sewing has a great selection of belts for sewing machine. http://www.statewidesewing.com/#Accessories
WHen you get the new belt on, don't forget to clean your machine and oil it. Since it hasn't been used for a long time, I'm sure it will need a good oling.
you may find that the needle is bent. or maybe the machine needs a cleaning I use canned air for this it blows the lint out so nicely . if this is a new machine then take it back to where you bought it and see what they can do.
Have you changed your needle? If you have a dull or bent needle it can cause the machine to not lock the stitches together and the result is a straight stitch on every pattern. Also, check your stitch width selector and make sure that it did not get accidently moved.
