My sony tv is having a interminate issue with the color turning pale green/yellow for a few minutes then come back to normal. Any idea's what it could be? Would it be worth having someone look at the TV?
Thanks for the input ballin023. It's definately something with the red color spectrum. When I watch a movie with red colors in it, the red colors turn light green/yellow for a few minutes then back to normal. The TV is 7 years old. Does this type of tv have seperate components for red, yellow, blue. WOndering if somthing wiht the red components could be fixed? Thanks for the input ballin023. Sounds like your picture tube is going out, if its an old tv it would be best to let it die since its very costly to fix these problems. If its new you better get it looked at. It is a hardware problem, nothing you can do about it.

Only yellow color denotes the absence of Blue color. Check it. Check its video output card for any loose solder terminals at the blue color output section circuits.
Sony TVs has an Optical Block issue. If there is an issue with the optical block, then there will be green, blue patches or tint on the TV display. Try resetting the TV to the factory settings and try Power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue still persists, then TV may require service. You can contact the Customer relations team and check for the available options. Sony had repaired free of cost for such issues. Hence, contact the customer relations.
You are so lucky to be there. I share a guide for you - It make me like a pro to help my friends and many people. It is too expensive to send back to Sony repair if your machine is out of warranty!

Go to => http://www.samsung.com/us/ Type 910mp in the search dialog box. Select Download English Manual. It's about 20mb. The manual has instructions for setup including adjusting your monitor. There is even a section troubleshooting and a self-test. Good Luck.
If your set was manufactured around July 2005, you may need a firmware upgrade to solve this issue. On the Sony website you can enter your model # and serial # to see if you TV is affected. If so, it is easy to have done and may be free from Sony. It sounds like the issue they described in the writeup on the required formware update. I had mine done within few months of when i bought it (purchased in Dec 2005) and it has been working flawlessly since.
