Hello i have recently bought a tomtom one and are having all soughts of problems. The biggest problem is when you try to enter the address to the destination of the town and it just keeps entering the letter k, so when you type any other letters it keeps re-entering k and therefore not being able to enter the information. It is extremely frustrating. The other problem is the screen randomly goes hazy after you have entered the destination and it shows that you have good satelite signals. Can someone pleae give some advice. Even after resetting it continues the problem. Any information would be most grateful because this happened to my first one i bought and it eventually crashed with a big x in the middle of the screen so this is the second one. Has anyone else had these problems?
Great I am glad someone else had the same issue. The problem is that they are very easy and effective to use. I thinking is it worth trying to find a different model but same brand of tomtomGreat I am glad someone else had the same issue. The problem is that they are very easy and effective to use. I had the same hazy problem with the screen too. It happened when i knocked it or it dropped from the windscreen accidently. The only way I solved it was by turning it off for about an hour then it would come up fresh again but if you need to use is straight away there was nothing you could do. I couldn't find out any info for this so ended up getting a navman 40i which is working sweet so far I had the same hazy problem with the screen too. Hi Dave
"Has anyone else had these problems?"
If it's any consolation I've just experienced a similar problem but the letter was "f" and not a "k". I couldn't get past this screen and had to switch it off and even then it sometimes remembered the fault. I took mine back because it was only 6 days old and asked for a full refund, which I received. I'm undecided what to do next, either buy a new one or wait till they settle down or try another manufacturer. Could there be a faulty batch out there?

The screen shows an X when the navigation software on your TomTom is corrupted ... and it will not start (boot) up the device.
Have you tried contacting TomTom Support, to have them walk you through this problem ? assuming you recently bought your TomTom and it is still on warranty.
So it never work even on a different unit so the problem there can be with the SD card the data inside it might be corrupted, how about if y9ou check the content of that SD card to make sure data are still there...
There's a possibility that the navigation software is corrupted.
Have you tried to recover it from your backup (on your computer) ?
Otherwise, you'll want to use TomTom Home (or MyDrive Connect) to see if you can download and re-install the software from the tomtom webiste.
Recently, TomTom has decided to limit/stop support (including software/maps, etc.) for certain (older) models of TomTom GPS. If your model is one of those, you're out of luck. TomTom is trying to have you buy a new model.
You were able to successfully download windows files with your Mac and transfer them to your Tom Tom? I'd suggest trying the transaction again, but doing it with a windows machine. (Trust me, I have a Mac and I realize how unwell it likes to play with Windows.) {But I wouldn't trade it}
To just clear a current route: www.tomtom.com/6998, if you want to delete recent destinations that you've navigated to, go to Main Menu > Navigate To.. > Recent destination > Delete.
Go support on official TomTom site. Entery your product then search tech support for 'postcode search'. One of the FAQ returned is exactly your problem (full postcode search in UK or Netherlands). Download file and follow instructions. Et voila!
