Question about Hampton Bay 24750 Huntington III Ceiling Fan
I just had a Hampton Bay ceiling fan with light fixture installed. (Actually the model is an Almeida purchased in Home Depot, but I haven't been able to find this model on the web.) The fan operates by remote only. The remote works the fan speed and light but does not reverse. I would appreciate any advice. The fan is set for winter, so we are sweating it out! Thanks for any help.
Just reporting that I called Hampton Bay about the remote not working to reverse the fan. I was told that I needed to have the fan running on low and then press reverse on the remote control. If that doesn't work, customer service told me to press reverse while running the fan on medium. (Some fans are set to reverse on low and others on medium.) Nowhere in the manual is this addressed. I had been pressing reverse with the fan turned off, which seemed to me a logical thing to do. Live and learn.

I have an Emerson CEling Fan with Remote Model CF252 that was stuck in reverse. I tried everything to get it to reverse. I eeven took it down and dismanteled it. The solution was the the celing fan had to be spiinning at its lowest speed in reverse and then use the reverse button on the remote. Go figure!

On the unit is a slide switch. pushing this in the opposite setting will reverse the motor.

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually, my Hampton Bay ceiling fan is similar to the Huntington II, but is an Almeida. There is no slide switch on the unit, just the remote switch. I have learned from reading various posts today that this is a common problem with Hampton Bay fans--that the remote does not work to reverse the fan. I finally tried one suggested solution and it worked. With the fan turned off, my husband gave a spin to the blades in the counterclockwise direction we desired. I then used the remote to turn on the fan at medium speed and then quickly turned the fan off and then on again at the wall switch, once again hitting medium speed on the remote--all in rapid succession. It worked. My fan now moves counterclockwise each time I turn it on. It seems that this is a defect in the Hampron Bay fans that work by remote only. The problem has been discussed on the web for the past three years, with others also finding satisfaction from this solution. I don't understand why cutting power to the fan worked in this way, but I'm happy to know that I don't have to take the fan down and return it, especially since I have a matching fan in the midst of being installed. It will be interesting to see if the reverse switch works on the remote with the second fan. Next time I buy a fan I'll look for a model with the slide switch on the unit . Thanks for offering a solution to my problem.
This worked for me....surprised that it did, but just used the on off switch and the reverse button on medium speed. Thanks!!!
