Answer 1. Start Manual Setup by pressing MENU on your DVD player remote control during the Setup process. Select “Manual Setup” from the menu and follow the instructions on screen. 2. When prompted, try the first three-digit code from the list of Additional Manual Setup Codes, below. 3. If the above fails, try the next three-digit code in the list, and so on.
To reset the recorder to factory defaults as if it was just removed from the box - leave the recorder on then press and hold the channel up and down buttons at the same time until it says "Bye" on the display. When it shows the clock it is off - wait a few seconds then turn it back on - you should see the initial setup asking you to choose a language.
Note: You may have to flip down part of the front panel to reveal the channel buttons.
OR

Almost no universal controls work on this unit. I only have found one out of dozens. Its a philips, code is 1906 but I tried it on other remotes and it doesn't work on them. Calling Leapfrog is probably your best bet.
These R04 are fickle, some Brands of DVD discs won't work in ILO,try another brand. Also clean laser in iLO it may be dirty, use commercial cleaning disc, put a drop of rubbing alcohol on brushes.Do not use any other chemical.
It is possible you laser is defective or starting to go.If that's the case you need to replace burner/loader.
Some dvd recorders formulate a little differently,I have made recordings in my iLo that won't work in all brands of players/recorders.
