How do I add a trailer hitch package to allow all stop , back up, and directional lights?

Take it back. Sounds like they didn't wire the converter correctly. Check fuses also. Also try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. They have a great website with lots of info.

Advance and other auto parts sell a Hobie brand kit that simply plugs into the tailamp circuit. Follow directions supplied and you have trailer lights

Did you fix this? I have the same issue....honda states it is a controller unit (after the fuse box....before the lights) If there was a short, there is NO protection!! An obvious design flaw.....$350 part + labor. Let me know how you resolved your issue? EdB

It doesn't matter how the trailer is wired. The connector on the trailer takes care of that. If you have the correct car side connector then just connect it in correctly and let the connectors take care of the rest. Almost any auto parts store carries the connector half you need and the packaging usually has installation instructions included.
