Question about iRiver Clix Digital Media Player

Iriver clix gets static-y after a few minutes

My iriver clix gen 2 (4gb) will play for a few minutes, then gets so much static on it that the music can't be heard, even though it's still playing. I've installed the latest firmware, but it still doesn't work. The battery is fully charged, and it doesn't help to hit the reset button. I just bought it in June, and I'm ready to send it back!

Thanks--I think it might be the speakers. I've tried 3 different headphones and it still happens. I've never dropped it caused any damage to it externally. I'll probably end up returning it.

Hello Cart, I am sorry to hear that your Iriver Clix Gen 2 4 gb video player recieves enormous amounts of static that makes it unaudible after a couple minutes. I see that you have eliminated one of the factors of static by upgrading the firmware, but unfortunately the firmware is only related to booting up, and loading your movies/music. If the static is coming from the speakers, you may not be able to fix it, unless you open up your Iriver Clix, which I recommend you not do, due to that it will void your warranty. The Static may be caused due to excessive geforce or impact to your device, causing the wire's to be loose. If the static is coming from the speakers, I would recommend you to return it to the manufactuer or return it back to the store. If the static is coming from the 3.5 mm plug, try a different pair of headphones or earbuds, make sure it is fully plugged in, I would also recommend you to return back to the manufacturer, or return it back to the store. -Tom Smith.

You should try to upload the newest firmware for your device. Simply go to irivers site, look under Iriver Clix Generation 1 support (I'm guessing you have the generation one... if not, just click generation two). Simple as that!

Iriver clix - dowloading music from laptop to iriver clix

If you set up Windows Media Player to autosync to the Clix, then, when you delete songs from the computer (including the wallpaper jpeg), the files also get deleted off the clix. Make sure you have Manual Sync enabled in Windows Media Player (or, more accurately, disable auto-sync).

If auto-sync is already disabled, then you have a good, old-fashioned DB corruption. You can reload the firmware from iRiver's website:

Iriver Clix USB freeze

My screen also froze in the music menu, but when I connected to the PC, it was recognised and I could get into the files. Try resetting it by sticking a paper clip in the reset hole if you've not done it already. Mine's working fine so far....

Iriver clix2

If you have a song up just click and hold to the right and a bunch of options should show up. The first option should be "play mode" and in there you can choose whether your playlist (or album, depending on how to navigated to the song) will shuffle and repeat.
