What aspect of the Word "Column" Feature do you wish to use from the keyboard, or do you just wish to open the column drop-down menu with a keystroke? Open "Tools - Customise - Keyboard" then you can select "all commands" in the "categories" window. Scroll down until you find "columns" and assign a key shortcut. If you wish to link to a .org webpage, then use "Ctrl K" to insert a hyperlink. If you wish to configure a hotkey to automatically type ".org" when pressed then this is possible. You have to first record a macro. Open "Tools - Macro - Record Macro", give it a name you will remember and select Keyboard. choose a key shortcut that is free. I recommend "Shift F12" but find what you prefer. Then type ".org" and click the small blue square (stop macro). The key you chose should now type exactly what you typed every time you press it. If you want to open powerpoint with a hotkey, this can be done. Select "Tools - Customise - Keyboard" then you can select "all commands" in the "categories" window. Scroll down until you find "MicrosoftPowerpoint" and assign a key shortcut. Hope this helps, please ask again if you need more help. :)

Re HP wireless Elite keyboard (RK713A): I am using it with a Sony notebook (Windows 7) - can the F9-F11 keys somehow remapped to something useful eg. open Outlook etc. ? (Registry?) Thanks!

Here's the Microsoft way - note that all Win7 keyboard shortcuts begin with CTRL-ALT-(your shortcut key here).

Note also that a desktop shortcut must already exist to which to be invoked by the keyboard shortcut.....

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Create-keyboard-shortcuts-to-open-programs

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The way the Internet community does it:
www.autohotkey.com - freeware - allows you to "package" a number of
keystrokes into a "keyboard macro" and invoke that macro thru
the use of a "hotkey." Keyboard macros can be as short as one
function key, but some Win7 function keys cannot be ove-written, such as F5
