Question about Brother MFC 210C All-In-One InkJet Printer

Only printing black and cyan

I just bought 8 new Brother brand cartridges for my MFC-210c, so I am $100 in the hole if I cannot repair this printer. I have been using those cheap G&G brand cartridges, which I feel may be part of the problem. I am printing only black and cyan. I emailed Brother with my problem (excluding the fact that I have not been using Brother ink cartridges), and received a prompt response. I followed the instructions exactly. I took out the cartridges and put them back in the printer, and checked to make sure the cartridges were properly seated, and then I used the menu to go through the head cleaning process. I cleaned the heads about a dozen times. Still, only the black and cyan print. The magenta and yellow are not printing. What do I need to do to save this printer?

If you have used third party carts before you can't repair this problem due to the fact that the filter inside the printhead is clogged with particles. There is no chance to clean the filter. Sorry. Do use only dye ink. Pigmented ink is the printhead killer for brother printers!

I read several forums on your paticular printer and several of the people on there had problems with one to two colors. Some of them used cleaningprogramm to try and fix their problem but just wased ink. I will give you the link to this forum so you can take a look but it doesn't look to positive. Good Luck! Install cyan

That message is saying you need to replace the blue "Cyan" ink cartridge in the printer. When the printer detects that the ink in out it tells you to replace the empty one to continue printing. Just buy a new cartridge install it and you will be good to go.

I bought a Brother MFC 210C Printer - Fax - Copier a few years ago, when it ran out of ink I stopped using it for awhile. I just bought new ink cartridges, took the tabs off and put them in and they are...

Perform reconnection inspections on the printer. Attempt to printer documents. The computer should diagnose the condostion either as missing programs or malalligned printer ink or paper or compartments not closed appropiately.

Will not print text in documents, only headings.

When you go to print on your settings select print in black only. Did you buy Brother ink? Having old cartridges refilled or buying generic can pose a problem. I remember correctly brothers have a chip on the ink cartridge? I have gone through so many printers and its really not worth going any further, seems as though you have put sometime and effort in to this 100$ printer. Take 100$ & buy a kodak easy share all in one the ink is 15$ brand new.

MFC does not recognise the new black ink cartridge.

Disconnect power supply and USB lead (leave disconnected for 10 min). Repeat this for each colour that is not working and hey presto the LCD readout will revert to normal and you will be able to print again. Happy Christmas! Hope this works for you (worked for me)

Can't print

Ok, if your brother has four cartridges then I'll assume you have black ink available. There should be a printer setting to print in black only, especially if your trying to print a colored document. If your brother only has three cartridges then cyan is necessary to form black; you will have to buy a replacement cartridge.

Brother 210C One colour cartridge empty, want to print a black and white fax

Yes, if you dont need the color anymore in future:

You can cheat with empty c/y/m carts by sticking some dark but very thin adhesive tape around the nose (see picture).

After that the printer logic expects the c/y/m carts always as full.

But you cant print any colors within the next 2 weeks anymore because air will dry out the print head (and destroy the color nozzels)!

See brother homepage for instructions on how to print in grayscale only!
