Overheating We had this unit for several years. Has worked well. Recently it seems to be overheating , exterior side wall gets very warm. It is still cooling, but does not seem to cycle off. Does this sound repairable ?

If the coller does not have a fan for condenser then for some reason the cooler is working too hard could be that the door is not closing. On many coolers it is normal for the exterior surface to heat up because that is how it transfers heat from the inside to the outside. Thanks John T

Usually that is a sign that there is a blockage to the condenser fan below the cooler. See if the condenser is dirty, or something blocking the flow of hot air from the condenser fan area. Check
the condenser fan motor to insure it is healthy and running strong. Recommend cleaning condenser to allow air to circulate the area freely. If fan is slow, stopping or not running I recommend replacing the fan motor. Sea Breeze

The wall seperating the fridge and freezer is overheating. The face of the wall is about 139 degrees F. The rest of the the fridge is just fine.

Hi there

There is a trace heater in the frame of the unit to prevent ice build up, this seems a little warm but I don;t think its a problem. Sometimes in manufacture the heater is a bit closer to the frame than it needs to be.

If there is no discoloration of the frame then I think it is nothing to worry about

Finding a suitable thru the wall air conditioner

Hi,
Not exactly....if you can half or more of the side vent exsposed then you will be okay...I like the side vent models because they are less prone to recycling the air...they either pull in the side and expell out the back or visa versa...
On the total back models all the air is just pulling and pushed out the back and they are prone to overheating in some wind conditions...the air just recycles...
Of course the main problem is that most people fail to keep their unit cleaned properly and that causes the overheating...

Ge mini fridge seems to be overheating

the unit should have heat coming off the condenser coils on the back. some of the units have a little fan motor to help cool the condenser. make sure there is plenty of space for air flow around the unit, as this is crucial to normal operation.
