Gateway Cx2610 I have a Gateway Cx2610 that the power jack is not working at all. There is no other way to charge the battery. I took it to a technician and he said I have to buy a new motherboard to fix the power jack. I wonder if anyone know if there is external battery charger for the laptop or how will i fix this problem without changing the motherboard Thanks Honest

I have the same problem with my son's laptop... power charger stopped working. I'm in the process of trying to buy a replacement charger, but it sounds as if the problem may be the DC jack? This is less than a year old, is it covered under mfg warranty?

I have a 1 year old (warranty just expired) Gateway notebook computer that will not charge also. The battery is completely dead now. I called Gateway and got a new AC adapter/charge cord. Of course, they told me this would fix the problem.

I received the new power cord and guess what - IT STILL DOES NOT WORK. I know it has something to do with laptop itself because the notebook was charging sometimes and not others before it completely stopped (like a part was going out). GATEWAY IS NO HELP AT ALL and I would never buy another one of their computers. Can anyone email and let me know how to fix this problem. I am wondering if it would be cheaper to just purchase a new computer. email is [email protected]

does it embedd on motherboard or it is external and I can change it?a

I also have a cx2610 but mine works most of the time, if your good with a soldering iron the points on it might be broke and they are quite easy to resolder

Hi, There is another solution. You can have the DC Jack repaired. This is a very common job. The person who told you that you need a new motherboard obviously has no experience with repairing Laptops. M

You DO NOT need to replace the motherboard. Laptop jack can be replaced. This place can do it for you, you ship your laptop to them, they replace your jack, then send it back. It costs $99. A lot cheaper than a new motherboard! http://www.800tech.com/ And so you know, I am not affiliated with them in any way.

Gateway nv52 won't charge

It sounds like you either have a dead mother board or a bad power inlet. Did the machine work with the new battery while it was charged? If so, then the battery connector was good and the inlet was bad. If not, your motherboard could be dead. I've also seen where a bad battery connector would syphon off enough power to not power on the machine or charge the battery.

Gateway kav60 not charging. i have to wiggle the cord and sometimes it refuses to charge.

I guess you've got a broken laptop power dc jack or power cable.

Symptoms of a broken Laptop DC power jack:

- The laptop only operates when you hold the DC power plug in a certain direction (DC jack is broken or loose).
- The laptop only runs on battery power (no power is getting through the DC jack).
- The laptop gets no power at all.
- The laptop will not charge the battery.
- The laptop switches from AC power to battery power intermittently due to a loose or broken power jack.
- The laptop suddenly shuts off.
- The DC jack may feel loose.
- Sparks come out of the back of the laptop when you insert the power plug into the DC jack.

No connection with the DC Jack on Gateway 3550GZ

It's time to take the computer to a qualified technician, for proper trouble-shooting & repair, because there are very-few "user-repairable" parts inside a laptop/notebook computer.

I have acquired a Gateway MX 3563 Laptop. It will not run off the power adaptor or charge the battery. The power adapter is new as is the battery. I am a certified Apple Technician.

Use your Apple tools and equipment to open this puppy up.  The IC power port has gone bad.  Check on e-bay for a parts/repair laptop you can purchase for cheap to pull parts off of.

I cant find video controller driver for gateway cx2610 for windows 7

Gateway doesn't seem to have a driver created for windows 7 The only alternative I could suggest is to try and download one from ATI's website, a Vista or windows 7 driver should work

Motherboard or DC Jack Problem???

i agree with your logic and think its a good idea to get the jack soldered to the the motherboard before anything else is replaced and would hardly cost anything too

Stopped turning on

I had the same problem so I played around with the plug by rotating the plug on the jack, so if you remove it and plug it in with a different position it works for me. But the battery does not charge well anymore...
