ASUS P5QC refuses to boot

I just finished building a custom PC based on an ASUS P5QC Motherboard with a Intel Core 2 Duo processor. The Hard Drive is a 500 GB Seagate with 32 bit cache. VGA card is a ATI Radeon 1950. My optical drives are a Lite On DVD RW and the same brand CD burner, both of which came out of an older machine and worked fine until I installed them in my new PC. My problem(s) are; the computer refuses to boot up AT ALL, neither the DVD or CD drive work (they operate if the IDE cable is disconnected, but that doesn't really help me! I have an Athena 600 watt power supply with everything in a Antec 300 case. When I press the power button all lights and fans come on but that is all that happens, but the light on my VGA card is orange instead of green. I have used ASUS boards in the past with no problems. Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.--Wulfer 59/3-26-2009

This is a known issue with Asus motherboards. I got 2 in my shop with the same problem. While I didn't have your model I'll assume the issue is on that board as well.

Clear cmos with the jumper on the motherboard. This resolves the issue with no video.
There should be a 2 pin jumper, your motherboard manual will show you where its located.

Good Luck

What Cpu fit a p5kpl-c and the best to buy.

This is older type of motherboard, made by Asus and supporting Intel Pentium 4, 775pin processor (LGA775). It will support DDR2 to the value of 4GB, it will support 64bit operating system. it have single PATA port, SATA is present but no RAID configuration.

This motherboard requires PCI video card, there is noAGP port and no build in graphics. System is based on Intel G31 Express chipset.

Theoreticaly this motherboard should accept all Intel Pentium for 775 pin processors, albeit early production may need BIOS flush with latest BIOS.

List of processors accepted:

Intel Pentium 4, Intel Pentium D, Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo, Intel Pentium Core 2 Extreme and Intel Pentium Core 2 Quad.

If you need more information or drivers for this particular board, please visit this site adn select exact model:

Your motherboard is for a AMD processor not Intel. You need a motherboard for a Intel processor before you can proceed. They are so different. Core Duo chips don't even use pins.
