These are the possible reasons.

  1. your video card doesnt't support the resoltion you selected.
  2. you don't have the appropriate driver for your video card.
  3. or check your video cable
Solution:
  1. Try rebooting your PC.
  2. Reinstall or update video card driver. Know the brand and model of your video card then surf the net for drivers on their website.

Turns off automatically within 4-5 seconds after I started

First attempt to use a different monitor on your computer, or use this monitor on another computer. If it appears that monitors only shut off when attached to your computer then it's safe to assume that you have a graphics card issue, not a monitor issue. If your monitor shuts off on another computer then your monitor is basically broke. To try to troubleshoot the graphics card, unplug your monitor from the computer and the wall. Now unplug your computer from the wall, open up your computer case and remove the graphics card. Using a can of compressed air, blow out all of the dust in the computer. Reinsert the graphics card, close the case, plug the monitor back into your computer and the wall and start the computer again. Hope this helps.

What is the best way to clean the screen of a

It depends on the kind of dirt you've got on the LCD screen.

Dust and fingerprints may be safely removed using a tissue-non-tissue or microfiber cloth, sold in most camera shops. It's exactly the same supplied with most glasses, only bigger. It works without moistening. Do not press overmuch, but wipe it repeatedly, and even the sturdier fingerprint WILL come away eventually.

There are also specially formulated moist-wipes. They're more expensive and only good for one use each, but are good to clean dried spills such as specks of sugared coffee or an explode-on-open Coca Cola can. You'll find them in most computer shops.
