Question about Pioneer SIR-PNR2 SIRIUS Radio Receiver

1 Answer

Static sound ok i will start from the beginning, i had the sirius starmate 4 in my car and it worked flawless, i then decided to upgrade to a new pioneer headunit and so i swapped and oppted for the Pioneer SIR-PNR2 Sirius adapter to rid the need of the starmate so i hooked it all up and called sirius and they activated it and it works just fine but when music is playing it makes a popping like noise, almost as if my speakers are blown but that can not be because it just happens when i am listening to sirius? any tips on why it would be doing this would be greatly appreciated

Some Pioneer radios allow for seperate audio controlls between FM CD and External sources like you Sat Radio. It may be that your settings are out of wack (Prob the factory setting which is crap), try that out and let me know.

My Starmate 5 constantly has to acquire signal in my car at home it works perfectly.Any suggestions?

Check the antenna's connector for your car based antenna. Sometimes the little finger tabs need to be gently pushed back towards the center to make a better connection. Be careful not to move them more than a precision screwdrive blade's width or you might snap it off.

Sirius starmate 2replay has no sound. how do I go

When you hit the menu button go to FM transmitter and make sure is is turned on, and sellect a frequency
to set it to that is not being used by a radio station, tune you radio to the same frequency. if you are using the audio out on the starmate to plug directly into an aux in on you stereo, there should be a audio level adjustment in the menu as well.

Bad news my friend. That model isn't supported anymore. Sirius is pretty good about replacing the radio for free and discounting the accessories. You will get one for free. The docks are reasonably priced. The boombox you might be able to get a discount for. The new docks are more designed for multiple units should this happen in the future to you again (like Stratus radios).

There isn't much to service on the radios. If the board is dead it isn't worth fixing. It's cheaper for Sirius to replace it.

Distorted sound

I have had this problem also. While I haven't completely fixed it I have figured out the root of the issue. Within this unit there are two circuit boards. Between the two boards is a white connection. It appears this connection becomes loose or is susceptable to the heat that is generated from the unit. I've tried teasing out the pins within the connection to see if they can get a better fit together. This will work for a little while but then the static returns. I'll post back if I come up with a final solution to this problem.

My Sirius Starmate did the same thing last night. Playing with the line out got it to work for about one second.

I had the same problem with mine. I purchased the Sirius FM direct adapter and now it comes in crystal clear.

Sirius XTR1 Receiver cycles on dog screen with beep - keyboard locked

Hello, I had the same problem with my xact xtr1 and I was advised by xact that they have no repair process in works and most likely wont. They did say let it run for 10 minutes and once you have a menu switch to factory defaults which proves to be a worthless fix. I would have to pay $39.95 for a new radio...horrible customer service. The bright side is that Sirius will not charge me the $75.00 transfer fee as a good faith gesture. I have decided to switch to another radio and leave the Xact brand out of the equation, if there is no upgrade or modification to the existing equipment why set yourself up for a future failure.
