Question about Sony KV-35S42 35" TV

1 Answer

Tv Flashes When turning my tv on, it takes about 5 minutes to get any picture at all, then it takes about another 10 minutes with the picture flashing on and off, until it finally settles. I am noticing it getting worse every time. It now also seems to flash on and off if the picture on the screen is too bright or action-filled.

Hi, I was having the exact same problem with my 35 inch sony trintron KV35V76. Yesterday when it flashed on and then off. It blew the circuit breaker. I reset the circuit breaker and now the tv will not come on like it has no power at all.

We have exactly the same problem. It's been going on for a month or two. It does eventually stabilize and stay on, but it seems to be taking longer and longer for that to happen.
Any idea how long we have until it dies completely?

Green Flashes - Shuts off

Sounds like the green picture tube is defective. To confirm you can take the front grille and door off and tap the green tube lightly with something plastic, and not to touch any of the adjustment controls to confirm.

The flashes are a diagnostic. It should be only one flash pattern, either a 5 or a 10 (there are several other patterns in between as well). Please verify the number of flashes after power on, several times, and post back here, and I will be able to help with the fix. Based on your initial description, it my be the HV distribution.

Sony Trinitron KV35V35

Could be a weak Picture tube . You can try turning up the screen control but don't turn it up too much you'll get retrace lines in the picture . Turn it alittle at time until picture comes on then turn it down until the retrace lines go away . Then try turning the tv on and off to make sure it comes back on. Be careful you can get shocked if you do this while it is on and you touch one of the circuits . The control is on the flyback or the module thats on the picture tube it will say screen by it . If this does not work you could have vidoe problems or just the picture is no good . Good luck

Jar-Head, bad news, the picture tube has a mild short in the green cathode, tech can come out and try to restore it but it`s usually a futile attempt on sony tubes, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, BMW Rider

Takes about 5 minutes for picture to appear... Then every one to two minutes the picture disappears. It comes back on for 1 - 2 minutes then repeats. When set if first turned on, the stereo/stand-by light (red) flashes on/off until just before picture first appears .if your tv is very old than it might be due to crt getting weak crt base loose loose contact in power supply thanks

I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.
