Monitor shutoff Hi, my monitor comes on, but will only stay on for a moment. It will only come back on if I unplug it, then plug it in again. Is there a part I can replace? Thanks Cap

Hi, you asked if the power light was still on. No, the light goes out, and I have to unplug the monitor, then plug it back. then hit the power and it comes on again, for a moment.

Hi, do you mean, when you power on the lcd monitor, then the display come for a while, then no display? May i know the power led light is still on or what's the led color lit? If the color of led still maintain the GREEN light, then you may have a inverter or lamp problem. If this is the problem you need to repair or change the inverter board or ccfl lamp. For more details, you can go to this site http://www.fastrepairguide.com to get some repair idea.

Hi Cap, i think you may got a inverter problem. May i know, before your lcd cut off, then how about the screen situation? For example, before this lcd shutoff, you can saw the display on it, then after 2~3 it shutoff, or before it shutoff, what's the display shows? Is it got flickering, up and bottom brightness not balance on it, then it will shutoff lcd monitor. If this case, i think you may change the lamp. May the up or down lamp, either one.

Hi everyone , ive got a LG Flatron monitor model number W1934S the problem im having with it is i keep getting a black screen with the power light still on, but if i unplug the monitor lead and plug in...

Check out for bad caps in the power supply first.

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed LG and other monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

When the computer is turned on the monitor goes off. Then when I unplug it and plug it back in it comes on and stays on until I turn the computer off and back on again.

My monitor goes black but I can faintly see the images on the screen. It was said here that it appeared to be capacitors. What can do?

MONITOR KEEPS SWITCHING TO STANDBY

Either the power supply is going bad (power light will be orange or off when it goes dark) or the screen itself has the problem (inverter?). If the power button stays green but the screen goes dark, that'll be the problem.

When energized, screen stays on for about two seconds then blanks

Hi...there,
Well, it's seems your monitor backlight inverter are bursted. Usually, the monitor had a 1 year for the screen panel and 3 years for parts and labors. You're still under warranty, send it back to manufacturer for repaired.

Dear tfollis

Have you checked the HZ that you are using the monitor in windows ? If set at a very high level (for example 100hz) it may damage the monitor as it is not supporting it. (and maybe this explains the reason for the shutoff as a means to protect the circuitry)

17 inch TFT/LCD Widescreens monitors are ussualy optimal at 1280x800@60Hz.

Right click on Desktop-->Properties-->Settings-->Advanced-->Monitor--> At this point check the Monitor Refresh Frequency.

Check this first and if this does not solve it then we can proceed to more serious hardware troubleshooting.
