I have not changed anything that I know of. I looked in control panel and saw a lot of HotFix programs that I could not remove --something related to window--I removed them, finally, but still no go. What do I clean the connectors with? ( I wiped them with a cloth--use any solvent?--Thanks, musicbox

I have had a C3 since 1999 and I have alwasy been able to hotsync as computers then had serial ports. I've now got a new computer that doesn't have serial port. So I bought a USB-serial connector. However, the computer doesn't have COM1, COM2, COM3 , COM 4 available, but has higher numbers like COM7. Is there any software fix to allow one to select COM7 in the hotsync setup? Regards, Norbert

I have an old workpad IBM C3, I would like to transfer all my data on my new windows 7 computer. What shall I do? (It worked with windows XP but I don't remember what I did to install a driver pilot)

You need to download the Desktop manager and Hotsync for your WordPad C3. For your old device, you'll need 4.1.4.

Palm Software: (you may have to run it in WinXP compatiblity mode)

My IBM workpad c3 ran out battery for a while and I recharge it and realised the data stored at addresses session have lost . How can I retrieve the lost data from IBM workpad C3?

Their is noway to retrieve lost data on the workpad c3, unless you have it interfaced. Ounce the backup battery has been removed any stored data will be removed and the unit will come back to factory default.
Please see your users manual for complete details.

Ibm workpad sync & port issues help!

You have your Hotsync software set to use a com port instead of USB. Right Click on the Hotsync icon on the lower right part of your PC desktop and change it to USB and you should be good to go. The IBM Workpad is just like a Palm. I have the Workpad C500 which is actually a Palm M500. If you have a Workpad C505 it is a Palm M505. Anything you can buy for a Palm M500 will work with a C500 and anything you get for a M505 will work with a C505. If you do NOT have a USB Sync cable for your Workpad I suggest you do what I did... Just get a combination Sync and charge USB cable at Staples or Best Buy for your M500 or M505 and use it. It was about 20 but you can get them cheaper on the Net. I hope this helps you!

Considerations for Windows 2000 - WorkPad c500/505

The WorkPad c500 and c505 can be used only with PCs running Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows 2000 operating systems. NOTE: Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft NT 4.0, or serial connectivity, require a serial HotSync cradle or cable, available separately from Palm, Inc. The WorkPad HotSync utility will not sync via IR when the host PC is running Windows 2000.

Static electric discharge - IBM WorkPad c500, c505 (8602-60x / 70x) 2003-08-04

Palm Inc., the manufacturer of the IBM WorkPad, has recently informed IBM that a limited number of IBM WorkPad c500 and c505 models may be unable to use the HotSync function if a static electric discharge (ESD) takes place when the WorkPad is placed in the cradle. Palm Inc. has designed a new cradle for this condition. It has the Palm Inc. logo on it, but also works with these WorkPad models. Palm Inc. has a Web site that provides more information on this issue and also contains the Palm Cradle Exchange Program, which allows owners of eligible models to receive a new cradle. To determine if your WorkPad is eligible and to place an order for a replacement cradle, please visit the Palm Inc. Web site. NOTE: If you are in the Asia Pacific region, please contact the Palm Customer Information Centre in your country for information on how to recieve your replacement cradle. Links to this support information can be found at http://www.palm.com/asia/support/contact/asiapacificsupport.html NOTE: When ordering a replacement cradle from Palm, the entire IBM WorkPad serial number (16 digits) must be entered. The format is 1S8602MMMxxxxxxx (Where MMM is the 3 digit model number and xxxxxxx is the unique serial number).
