I press the scan button, the monitor says "To:user folder" (I have that fixed), but when I press "Start" it just says "1 color normal". I used this in the past and it worked fine. I have reinstalled the program multiple times but nothing changes.
You said you reinstalled. well why don't you try uninstalling and installing again. Sometimes deleting the files and then putting them back helpes.

Using the printer control panel
1. Open the top cover, and then load an original document face
down on the scanner glass.
2. Close the top cover to avoid dark edges on the scanned
image.
3. Make sure that the printer is connected to a computer,
and that both the printer and the computer are on.
4. From the printer control panel, press the scan button.
5. Follow the instructions on the computer screen.
Using Windows
1.
Open the top cover, and then load an original document face down on the scanner
glass.
2.
Close the top cover to avoid dark edges on the scanned image.
3.
Do one of the following:
•
In Windows Vista, click > All Programs, and then select the printer program
folder from the list.
•
In Windows XP, click Start > Programs or All Programs, and then select the
printer program folder from the list.
4.
Click Lexmark Productivity Studio.
5.
On the main screen, click Scan.
6.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Using Macintosh
1.
Open the top cover, and then load an original document face down on the scanner
glass.
2.
Close the top cover to avoid dark edges on the scanned image.
3.
From the Finder desktop, double-click the printer folder.
4.
Double-click the 2600 Series Center.
5.
From the "What is being scanned?" list, choose the type of document to be
scanned.
6.
Click Scan.
Connect a USB or FireWire scanner to the iMac using the scanner cord and the ports on the back of the iMac. Turn the scanner on.
