Left side keys - moon-hibernating mode, club+hp - takes you to hp internet club (lots of resources, free classes, etc on hp), globe spinning-takes you to internet-yourhomepage, envelope-takes you to windows email, magnifying glass- takes you to windows live search, ?-takes you to help

right side keys- arrowup1-opens disk drive, arrow up 2-opens 2nd disk drive if you have two, solid dot-opens dvd suite, arrows left-rewind, arrow right -fast forward slow, 2 arrows right-fast forward fast, and solid square -pause these are all media functions

I discovered all of this by taking a chance and pushing the key to see what happened. really wish they put a manual, or screen showing functions for the keyboard. hope this helps someone else!

How do I screen shot from my hp elitebook if I am running windows vista?

You need to press PrtScr or Print Screen button to capture the screen to the clip board. I believe on your laptop you need to hold the fn key down to select it. On the bottom left of the keyboard is a key that has fn on it. Any key on your keyboard that has a second function will need the fn key to access this second key function. PrtScr button should be on the top row right hand side of the keyboard.

Hold down the fn key and press the PrtScr key and then you can paste it into a document or paint or whatever. The PrintScreen function works in versions of windows I have ever used, from Windows 3.11 for workgroups to Windows 8.

Keyboard default setting

This may be due to a numlock setting. Try holding down the Function key,it should be on the bottom left corner of your keyboard as "Fn", and press either Num Lock or Scr Lk.

The Num Lock and Scr Lk keys should be on the upper right hand side of the keyboard.

I have a new HP keyboard which seems to have three or four choices for upper and lower case. For instance, the number 6 key has a choice of 6 or ? or several other designs likw an arrowhead which I cannot...

Keyboards can have various functions for each key that are enabled by first pressing a modifier key. Some keyboards may have an Fn key that stands for 'Function' that are identified by a bluish-purple color.

You would have to hold down the Fn key before being able to use the corresponding function.

Other keys may have items that can only be used once you press the NmLk (Number Lock) key. Usually you only have to press the NmLk key once to enable these alternate functions and then press it again to disable.

When ever i press certain symbel keys its wierd

You may have activated a shortcut key on your keyboard such as the Fn (function) key. It looks like this

Fn and usually situated on the bottom left hand side of your keyboard near the left hand cntrl button.

Some function keys when pressed once remain on. Once they are on they can cause different symbols to appear in place of the normal keyboard ones. If you press your Fn key again and then try typing on the keyboard once again it may help fix your problem.

I hope this helps
