Question about Maytag PDB3600A Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

It hums, but doesn't pump or wash

Hi Folks, We have a Maytag Performa PDB3600AWE since a couple of years. A couple of days ago it decided to go on strike. Water is sitting in the tub at. And I turn the dial the lights for delay and heat come on when they are supposed to come on. However the motor just makes a humming noise. Does anybody have an idea what that might be? The serial number is: 1046 4653 ZH Thanks in advance for your help, Washdisher

    Hi Krazytech,

Thanks for your input. That's what I already feared. The float switch moves very easily and I was able to turn the motor by hand (with tool in my hand ;-)
The microswitch underneath the floating part of the float switch seems to work as well.

    Thanks,
    Michael.

I have the same problem. I shut the dishwasher door and the timer hums along like evering is fine, but the motor isn't running and no water is put into the tub. I'ven checking the continuity of everything I can get my hands to and ething seems fine. I'm about to go out and buy a new washer :(

You may have a bad motor. I would check the float switch it is the round hat looking thing on the left side. it should move up and down easy.. you may need a repairman to change out the motor/pump..let me know thanks

Performa washer hums--stopped mid cycle, wont pump or agitate

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. You are right the issue is with the motor; don’t think it’s related to a capacitor. The hum sound that you hear is from the motor which is trying to run however is unable to so you’ll need to check the pump and motor and replace the part that has gone bad. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Maytag Preforma spins out of control

a couple of thoughts:
1. Take top off and check to make sure springs/absorbers are in place and not broken..
2. Try a load with no clothes and see if it happens.
Good luck.

Soap dispenser doesn't open

My recommendation is to switch over to a tablet and merely put the tablet on the floor of the dishwasher bypassing the soap holder all together. It should work just fine that way. good luck.

Very loud squealing noise in spinn.

If your Maytag is a top loader equipped with a vertical transmission under the tub, the squealing may be coming from, either the brake assembly, or the snubber which the entire pedestal rides on.  Could you please post back comments and let me know if this is the type of washer you have?
