Akai 42" LCD has lines on start up

TV is 6mnths old. When I power it on there are lines and or it goes into a scrambled digital mode. If I turn it off and on a few times it goes away. Any suggestions

I have the same problem, lines on start up and completely scrambled video. If I leave it on for about 10 minuets then I recycle power it will sync up enough that I can watch it. It will still have lines across the screen. After it has been on for awhile, the video will drop out again. I have to recycle the power to get video to sync up again.

I got the same problem on a LCT42Z6TM. It is related to video, occurs on VGA, S-Video and Video Ports.

You may have bad capacitors on the main board where the signal is processed. These caps are as labeled: c280,c323,c302 and c320- replace this one first (it usually fixes the problem) Replace these caps with 100uf @35V

Lines and broken digitized images on the viewing screen

Listen folks, these tv.s do not operate as the old tv. The tv breaks down, you simply change the board you know that has the problem only. You can solve the problem yourself if you want, but you have to know how to diagnose a problem in the new tv. First, you have a power supply board, main digital board, inverter board, and converter board. In your case you need to change the main input digital board. You can e-mail me at [email protected]

TV turns itself off after turning on. TV screen goes black.

Based on what I have read AKAI has reoccurring problems with power supply and bad DVD sound. The problem you have is caused by the DVD player trying to start. Never leave a disk in when you shut it off or you will have the same symptom you are describing.

Akai LCT42Z6TN

I had the exact same problem already and my LCD is less than 8mo old. One of the techs from AKAI told me that its a known problem and many tv's were coming back "unserviceable". They now have a "supposed" fix for the problem. I only hope it really works and its not just a "carry-over" until the warranty ends. I am beginning to think its a quality issue and the units may just be defective. Thismay be thier way of doing a quick-fix vs. recalling all those tv's. This is what he gave me to as a solution to give the serviceman when he comes to fix the LCD.

AKAI model LCT42Z6TM: If there is no image or a badly distorted image with horizontal static lines, usually with four boxes in all four corners of the screen, there is a possible fix for this. There are four capacitors on the main board that have been identified as the primary cause of this symptom. Replace the capacitors at location numbers C280, C302, C320, C323 - 100UF 35 VOLTS [dxh]
