Question about Samsung HT-DB120 System

1 Answer

HT-WP38 This unit plays a DVD fine for the first 20-30 minutes, then it starts freezing up. Only for a second or two at first, then it gets longer and longer until it will not play. Stopping or pausing has no effect. If I turn the unit off for a while, then turn it back, the cycle continues.

Cheapest and most logical start to the solution is to replace the optical block. looks like its focal point is drifting at a certain temp.almost impossible to pick up that problem without having that problem before. if i can advise, when you recieve the new part, unsolder the small bridgepiece that they put in for protection. if you dont, the unit will never work.

Dear Sirs, Recently, my Sharp dvd-video combi player has been encountering some problems regarding the playing of dvd's. When I watch a movie, in several occasions the movie will freeze up. And for...

the DVD unit in your sharp is a self contained unit. IT is only repaired by replacing the DVD as a assembly. the cost of replacing may exceed the cost of purchasing a new one.
The most likely cause of your problem is in the brass gear assy that runs the optical pick up in the traverse deck. IT is not an available part.

HT-WP38 Samsung Digital Home Theater System

A lot of electronics equipment these days are designed to **** out prematurely. The replacement parts (if you can find them) are usually priced so high that it is cheaper to buy new. Of course, that's what they want you to do. So, the only real solution is to go buy another unit and hope it lasts, or take the time and money to build yourself a good system. If you decide to buy new, before buying go to Google and type in the product name and number and follow it the words like "reviews", or "problems"

If you want know how to choose components for a good system, post back here, I'll be glad to help you.

System switches itself off

The HT-DB120 has an automatic shut down that should turn off after 20 min of idle mode, it seems yours is malfunctioning. try disconecting the DVD from power for a few minutes.
