Check all your speaker connections to make sure none have shorted out.
It appears the protector circuit is being activated upon startup. cut the power altogether to the unit before checking it.

How to hook up a denon avr -1706 receiver to a lg smart tv

When connecting your AVR-1706 to your LG TV, you will most likely be limited by the connections on your AVR-1706 as it does not have any HDMI capability.

In this case, depending on your LG TV, you would get the best video performance by using the component video connections from your TV to the Receiver. These are the one labeled Y, Pb, and Pr. These are special cables and you will need 2 sets if you want to run video out of your TV (perhaps you are using the internal tuner). Refer to page 6 of your AVR manual for the TV video inputs. Please note you will only use one type of input such as Component, S Video or Composite (descending order of performance). You must connect the Video Out from your AVR to the back of the TV's Video In as shown on page 6 as a minimum to get signals from devices other than the TV.

On page 12 of your AVR manual you can see the connections for TV outputs including the audio connections to the AVR. In the case of audio, you can either use Optical Digital (Toslink) out from the TV or coaxial (RCA) cables: Again in descending order of performance.

If you don't have the AVR-1706 manual handy, you can see it at the following link: http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/033/033AV1706B.PDF

The red ring on the power button on my DENON AVR 1706 is flashing continuously, not sure what it means, after my niece turned it on, it turned off and started flashing. What's wrong with it, does anyone...

Hi, this flashing means that the device has a short circuit in any of speakers connections or it's overheated, in the first case check if the speakers wiring has no bare wires touching each other, in the second case check that the ventilation holes of device are not covered or blocked with something.

My denon avr-1706 is going into protection mode immediately after turning on. whats the problem?

You either have an overloaded output or a shorted powersupply. If you have verified that your connections are not the cause then the problem is internal and will require service from a trained technician. Switching power supplies are notorious for going bad. Two of the main components are the FETs used for switching and the PWM generator.

Denon avr-1706 receiver just shuts off

This sounds like the amps protector circuit has been activated due to thermal overload. switch it off for an hour or more to let it cool down, make sure your spkrs are connected properly, don't parallel. Try using a fan on the unit to get that heat away. Get a techie friend to give the insides a once over, and clear away any dust that has built up.

hope this is of some help,
Cheers Kimbo.

No Power

I mwas gonna suggest that you need the speakers attached but you stated later that it did the same thing with the speakers attached. The unit switching off after it checks its self is NOT a normal thing. TAKE IT BACK BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!! GOOD lUCK
