I have been converting VHS tapes to DVD with the Philips Magnavox MWR20V6 DVD system and somtimes I have this problem.
When doing the VHS to DVD setup it stops and gives me an error message (E26) basically stating this is NOT recordable (I assume meaning it is copyrighted material). The material, however, is many times just footage I taped of my own children etc. with a camcorder. Anyone have any ideas on fixing the problem.........besides tossing the Philips Magnavox MWR20V6?????

I had this problem when copying an old family vhs tape. I had to unscrew
the top of the magnavox to access the vhs tape. Then, I gently removed
the tape and replaced the cover. After winding the tape back, I put it
in the player and immediately pushed fast forward for about 3 seconds
before hitting play followed by d.dubbing. I was able to make a copy of
the tape and did not damage my original.
its the copy protection system doing this. if you have another dvd player or vcr, you can hook that up to a time base corrector box and run the output out of that to the dvd recorder, allows recording from any source.
on my magnavox mwr20v6 i cant record my vhs to dvd i get black screen every time and my DVD are new and I just open my magnavox after a long long time and ecsup for get my VHS record to DVD it is fine I would like to fix this issue :(
