Have you checked that the bowl and the lid are clicked into place? Most Food Processors have a safety switch so that you can't turn the blade on with out the lid secured firmly.

Make sure you are using the dough blade for dough instead of the regular blade - dough will cause the regular blade/assembly to gum up. This is actually a VERY high quality unit w/ a 20-year motor warranty. I would see if you get better results with the dough blade. Don't give up on it yet.
