When you wriggle the plug in the power socket on the laptop and the charge LED flashes and in the right position it charges, this indicates that the power socket is faulty or there is a dry solder joint on the motherboard where this power socket is attached. To get at the power socket will require dismantling the laptop completely. If you are confident, can dismantle, reassemble a laptop and use a temperture controlled solder iron then try and fix it. If not a computer repair shop can do the repair, I suggest you get a quote first.
Take out the battery and make sure you can turn on the laptop with just the AC Adaptor hooked up.
If you can then you know the AC Adaptor is good. Try another known good working battery in the laptop, if the battery charges then you know that the old battery is bad.
If the laptop doesn't charge with a know working battery or a new one then you know that the motherboard is bad.
ok " new batteries would be a cool Idea, but did ya know you can set your laptop for desk top mode and laptop mode, desktop uses more power , laptop conserves power .
