Frigidaire won't run

My FMV156EM just stopped cooking one day. The timer will count down, but the motor won't run and cook. If I press on the door, the fan starts up and timer counts down, but yet again it doesn't cook. Any suggestions?? Do I get a new microwave or get it fixed?

Quite often this is due to a bad door switch. Opening the door while cooking (without first hitting the STOP pad) is the primary cause of door switch failure. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Microwave timer works but will motor will not run/cook.

If everything works on the unit, but you do not receive any heat or possibly the turntable does not turn you have a faulty magnetron (controls heat) and a faulty motor (controls turntable). You would require service on the unit, if parts are available. Some microwaves are so small in cubic foot size, that manufacturer's do not have parts available for purchase/repairs.

JennAir Microwave works perfectly but won't quit running.

One or two of the micro switches have failed, you will need a professional to remedy the situation.

My microwave oven will count down but will not cook. If you lift up on the door handle it will start cooking. I can't see anything broken on the door. Is there an adjustment for the door? If so how do you...

There is no adjustment to a microwave door. But, your problem is that the door has been bent downwards a little causing the door not to connect inside. There is two things you can do , one, replace the microwave or two, try to found a locale appliance store and see if you buy a replacement door. It would probley be cheaper to replace the microwave.
thank you.

We have a Frigidaire FMV156DCC that is about 3+ years old. as of last night when the door is closed and the time is selected one of 3 things happen (or doesnt happen) 1. is nothing, just a dark...

I would replace the door switches and set up the door gap to 1/8" just enough to alow for a little play.
Setting the door square is acheived by slackening the lower door hinge and re tightening it when the door is square.
Hope that helps.

When I want to cook something the light turns on, the timer starts counting down, but the motor does not run. No cooking.

I have always found replacing the magnatron assembly as well as the high voltage fuse is normallly the best way to fix this problem. Good Luck,

Same - the counter counts down, but doesn't cook.

Yes your door isnt aligning right when closed and the lower interlock isnt being made when shut. Look and see if where the door pivots if it is broke or sagging down.
