Actually, the "paper jam" message can be displayed due to a variety of jam locations and other causes. Starting by looking in the back of the printer is a good first step, but you can have a jam in the front or even in the automatic document feeder (although that one should be apparent because it's sticking out the front end.

PAPPER JAM
I have the same problem. It says remove paper jam but there is no paper anywhere. It does pick up paper. I don't know what else to do.
