Fan on outside unit will not start on its own.

After starting it manually, ( turning it) it will only run for a short time, then it stops.

Either your fan motor or capacitor is bad. The capacitor provides the motor with a phase imbalance to start it spinning. If it is shutting off this is because the motor is over amping and getting hot. You can try replacing just the capacitor to see if this corrects the problem but most likely the motor is bad by this point. When you replace the motor, replace the capacitor as well!!!

SOURCE: The outside unit is no0t able to start the fan

Hi!!
The part you need is called STARTING CAPACITOR and it is located in the same compartment where the electrical connectors are in the outside unit. MAKE SURE THE POWER BREAKER IS OFF before opening the compartment. and before working with the capacitor, touch both terminals with a screw driver to short them out and discharge the capacitor. Don't worry this is just a preventive measure and no sparks are going to be coming out of it. Once the capacitor is discharged, take a picture of the wiring and label them before disconnecting the wires. Remove capacitor and take to an appliance parts store to get a new one.

Hello, It sounds to me like your low on freon/refrigerant. You'll need to have someone test the pressures for you.

SOURCE: UNIT RUN FOR APPROX 1HR. THEN OUTSIDE FAN STOPS

whats going on is your outdoor fan motor is over amping itself and causing it to go into heat overload shutting down the fan. It needs to be replaced

SOURCE: Amana Cooling Condensing Unit fan won't kick on

be aware that not repairing this asap that you are causing yourself more problems First I would change out the fan capacitor and see if this could be the problem. Secondly if the capacitor isn,t the problem change out the motor . By continuing to allow the system to cycle like this the compressor will take a dive on you costing more . Good Luck

Testimonial: "Yes, it's dual run capacitor problem. I used a stick to spin the fan blades and it starts to slowly spin and up to normal speed, so motor is good."

Outside unit will only run for a short amount of time with A/C before the fan stops turning and starts humming, squealing/screeching and the top of the outside unit gets hot.

The bearings are bad in the motor and after the fan runs enough it eventually gets hot, making the bearing screech and the fan locks up. Need to replace motor again. See if it has a warranty. The reason it gets hot is because the fan is what removes the heat from the coil and if the fan isn't running there is nothing to cool it off so to speak.

Sounds like a voltage or amp draw issue. So how about if you only try to run the blower??

Outside fan runs constantly Aux Heat only 50%

Let's start out by your statement that the fan would not run, then you changed the contactor, not it won't stop running.
I believe, based on your info, here's what you need to do. Kill power to the unit. The 2 wires bringing power to the outdoor unit should be on the top 2 terminals. The 2 fan wires should be on the bottom 2 terminals. This is providing that the contactor is mounted Vertical. The could be an outside chance that the unit has a short in it and you are getting voltage feedback somewhere.
Take another look.

Inside blower not starting every time

You have a voltage bleed somewhere or a short, whatever you want to call it. Do you have a control board on this unit where the relays are integrated into it or do you have the old type where the relay is separate? Anyway, you need to take a meter and take voltage readings to the motor when it's acting up and when it's running right. I have had the same problem with a Goodman unit before and it turned out to be the tstat! What I would do is remove the cover off the tstat and take a small jumper wire and touch the r terminal to the y terminal. If the motor starts right up, you know it's the tstat. If you have the same problem, then the only thing it can be is a low voltage short to the unit from the tstat, bad control board if you have one, or a bad relay. But if the unit is working fine in heat, it's probably not the relay. I hope this helps.

Fan motor comes on, however, when a/c is turned on, breaker pops

If the unit is working fine in heat mode and in fan only mode, you have a short in the wiring going to the ouside unit. If it were a fan relay, then everytime the fan came on the breaker would trip. But either way, there is a low voltage short taking place in the unit. If the compressor was bad, the indoor unit would run fine and would only blow the breakers to the ouside unit. I had a unit last summer that did the same exact thing. After I replaced the control wiring to the outside unit, everything worked like a charm. Good luck!

Inside blower not starting every time

That's a weird problem. I wonder if the outside compressor is drawing down the voltage in the breaker box enuff to keep the blower from starting up. If you're set to cool but the thermostat is NOT calling for the AC, can you manually turn the blower on fathfully? If so, I would check all wiring connections in the breaker box to make sure they are tight and free from tarnish or corrosion. You may even need to contact your power company and have a higher amperage line installed outside. Do your house lights blink noticably when the compressor kicks on?

While you're resolving this, you could start the blower manually and just leave it on. The compressor cycling on/off shouldn't stop the blower once it's running and it won't draw much current... couple bucks a month maybe.

Hope that helps...
