Question about Frigidaire FMV156EM Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Timer will run, but won't cook

My FMV156EM just stopped cooking one day. The timer will count down, but the motor won't run and cook. If I press on the door, the fan starts up and timer counts down, but yet again it doesn't cook. Any suggestions?? Do I get a new microwave or get it fixed?

I have the same exact problem with my microwave

I have the same problem with a similar model FMV156DX. For a day, it seemed to work intermittently if the door was pushed up while closed. Now it doesn't work at all. I suspected the switch. Oven does emit a click sound, but doesn't begin to "cook". Timer counts down regardless.

We have microwave FMV156DB and found that it just stopped cooking. We can get it to work by holding door in and up. We feel it is the door switches, we have had the panel off and looked at the switches but they seem to be in place properly. We will try the advice offered here and get a new switch fitted. Will let you know if it works

    I have the same problem??????

I replaced the switch. It is most likely the magnetron, which is a lot more costly.

LG LMV2053SB microwave runs normally for 45 seconds (exactly, every time) then stops heating. The fan runs and timer counts down as normal but heating of food stop. It has done this since day 1..

When cooking the timer doesn't count down correctly takes a long time for seconds to change

lights on, timer counts down, seems to work until you push start and it just "clicks" and does not go on to reheat or cook. Otherwise looks normal. I am wondering if it is a fuse since the keypad works and the lights are all on and it beeps as it does when it has completed cooking or reheating

Quite often this is due to a bad door switch. Opening the door while cooking (without first hitting the STOP pad) is the primary cause of door switch failure. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

There are door switches and one of them is evidently out of adjustment or the little actuator arm on it is.

Microwave timer works but will motor will not run/cook.

If everything works on the unit, but you do not receive any heat or possibly the turntable does not turn you have a faulty magnetron (controls heat) and a faulty motor (controls turntable). You would require service on the unit, if parts are available. Some microwaves are so small in cubic foot size, that manufacturer's do not have parts available for purchase/repairs.

The problem is one of the door switches has failed, usually caused by food partical buildup, switch must be replaced for normal operation.

The timer counts down but the microwave doesnt turn on.

I have a FNCB115GC Microwave problem. The microwave has a icon on the left hand side of the panel that looks like a opened book on a stand with lines on top. This is best that I can descibe it. The microwave turntable does not move or the microwave does to come on but the light comes on and the timer will count down. I have cleared the microwave and unplugged it with no results. Please help. Thanks in advance.

When I want to cook something the light turns on, the timer starts counting down, but the motor does not run. No cooking.

I have always found replacing the magnatron assembly as well as the high voltage fuse is normallly the best way to fix this problem. Good Luck,

Same - the counter counts down, but doesn't cook.

Yes your door isnt aligning right when closed and the lower interlock isnt being made when shut. Look and see if where the door pivots if it is broke or sagging down.
