As the laptop is switched on the DELL screen appears (with a flickering sound bizzzzzzz!) for a second during booting up. After that the laptop boots up, the logon screen and bootup completes normally. Within a minute or two after boot up the sharp bizzzzzzzz! sound is heard and within 10-20 secs after that the screen goes completely black. One can't work on it. With a very carefull observation the desktop/any document/application can be seen, however, it only is sufficient for being noticed, and in no condition to work on at all.
If the screen is closed till the computer goes to standby mode and re-opened the screen gets bright again. After less then a minute it goes black again to the same condition.
Can you help me please what is the cheapest possible solution.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.
If you see a very dim image or black screen or flicking image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.
The buzzing sound is most likely the inverter problem.
Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
