There's no way to legally take Freon out without a machine but if you push down on the valve with something some Freon will come out

SOURCE: 2002 Saturn not cooling

well you cant just put refrigerant into a system. 1st you had a broken line . so the compressor probally pumped all its oil out and you lost the gas. 2 after such an incident you have to have the system evacuated to remove all the air out of the lines and system. if there is any air or moisture in there it will not run right due to freezing and without oil in there you will destry your pump . i suggest that you take it to a garage and get it evacuated be fore you proceed. then you can refill it. also on your vechile it should tell you how much goes in there like 1lb 6oz and there is an amount written on the can so go by that. putting more in there will do more harm then good and cause alot of headaches and sweating. good luck have a good day

SOURCE: 1996 impala ss air conditioner compressor is very noisy

That clutch and coil are serviceable without replacing the compressor but I have had little success with this as usually the clutch gets in that shape subsequently from activity going on inside the compressor which means that clutch is failed generally for a reason.replace the compressor -orfice tube-reciever drier and happy motoring......

SOURCE: adding freon to the auto air conditioner, the

On that model,it will cycle on and off while you add freon. If it does not ,then the ac system might have a problem. The low side pressure switch is located on,or near the accumulator .Unplug the switch and take the wire end plug and connect the two plug in`s together(cross it out on the wire). This will make the ac compressor engage and you can charge the system,do not leave the wire connected, plug it back up to switch. If the ac compressor does not come on ,then have the system checked out.

Either the system is still low of freon,or the sensor (one of them)is bad.The sensors are on the high side of the system, liquid line.If you will get on chat,I can help you with this,it will take a while,I will need to know how much freon was added. And what the system is doing,is the ac clutch engaging, etc?Ask for ronicon, when you click on chat with, type my name in,roniecon, with your text, that you are writing .

you will have to bleed some off the freon off of the high side safety. Use a hose combo with gauges.

RCV Valve is causing this issue. Refrigerant Control Valve. $40.00 part but most mechanics will want to replace your compressor.

I added a can of freon to my 2006 impala and the AC will not stay on the light cuts off

Get a freon charger with a guage and make sure the unit is at the right pressure when running. If the unit starts and then stops you usually need to add freon because the compressor is running dry because the charge cant keep up with demand.

Add freon slowly and be sure the ac is on. A small puff....and wait to see if compressor comes on. When it does you can add until the guage reads in range. Try to keep it in the mid to lower end of the range. Believe it or not the fuller units dont run as cool!

Be careful! Adding freon too fast to a compressor can cause "slugging" and can damage the system!

Tahoe Air Conditioning - No Electricity to Compressor

With the engine NOT running, pull the connection to the compressor clutch and hit the terminals with 12 volts from the battery. If the clutch clicks it's OK and probably is not working because of a low freon interlock if there is one.

You said you added a can of freon...... was the clutch working when you did this? If it all went sour when you added the can , could you have done it wrong and dumped the rest of the freon?
