Gateway gt4010 usb ports are all failing.

All usb ports in front of computer failed at same time. Computer could not recognize any device. The rear ports were working ok.
The next morning the rear usb ports failed.
Have tried multiple devices and also checked the devices themselves and they work in another computer.

Need driver for verbatim pocket reader, model 97709

This device physically connects to a computer through a USB port, and operates via one of (3) standard protocols. No separate driver software is required or needed. If your computer does not recognize the device in one USB port, you should try to connect it to any/all of the other available USB ports. If your computer still fails to recognize and operate your device, the device is probably in need of repair.

Diskgo

Yes..try and use a rear USB connection as these connect directly onto the motherboard...leave a USB cable in situ and plug to and from the extension...it may be the front end USB has loosened off the motherboard....becaware that repeated failed connections are logged on the machine in a system folder which sometimes disables the port....clear all the temp file....use device management ...and look to see if the drive shows up without a designated letter...if it does reassign it with a drive letter andyou will be able to use front end USB port again.

My Plantronics C420-M is not recognized

How To Fix Error Code 43 Windows has stopped this device because it has...

If Windows Device Manager is giving a code 43, this means the hardware is reporting something wrong when trying to connect. I'd do the following (and also check the attatched link for reference ;-) )

  • Unplugging the headset, restarting the computer, then plugging the headset back in.
  • Make sure the USB connector on your headset (and the USB port you're putting it in) is undamaged, and not dirty.
  • Try connecting the headset to another USB port, and another computer to see if you're able to reproduce the issue there (if not- it may just be the USB port(s) on your computer that you're plugging the headset into that's failing.
If all else fails, it may be time to purchase a new headset ;-)

Computer says this drive is not accessible. It has worked fine for two years. It will work on my laptop. I am using Windows Vista

A couple of things here. First, make sure your usb ports are working on your computer. Try plugging the unit into a different usb port. For example, if you usually plug it into the back, try plugging it into the front. If this doesn't work, get a "Powered" usb hub. Your usb ports work on 5volts. Even when they start to fail, they will recognize "non powered" devices like thumb drives or camera cards. Another issue is that the power supply may be failing. Make sure you're using the power supply that came with the drive. If you say it works on your laptop, I'm thinking that your pc's usb port might be failing. A powered hub should resolve this issue. Hope this helps.

My USB ports won't work on my gigabyte MA69VM-S2 mobo with win7

Unlikely to be issues with the OS. Have you recently upgraded to Win 7 from Vista or XP? and did the USB ports work with this OS?
Do ALL usb ports fail or is it just one or two and are these the front USB's or rear USBs?

Greetings....

Please try to check if your USB port both rear and front USB port are not defective. Most common problem of defective usb ports are when plug your usb devices it won't recognize the device you inserted. So to make sure that your USB Ports are not the main cause why your computer won't recognize devices you inserted.
