Stop buying cheap batteries at Dollar Tree.

Buy ONLY good, fresh, duracell alkalines. I find these to last the longest with any intermittent use but heavy power drain device (like autofocus cameras)

Try and see. Def worth the money.
For freshness, look on the pack for expiry date BEFORE you buy... and get some spares too.

My Fujifilm Finepix S8000FD was unused for a long time and had its batteries leaked, I cleaned it and it says batteries are empty?

It takes 4 x AA batteries. Are the battery contacts on the compartment door, and the battery contacts in the base of the compartment clean and shiny. Usually when batteries leak, they cause oxidization on the metal.

The camera does have very specific requirements.

Batteries are required to operate the digital camera. At
first, load the batteries in the camera.
Compatible batteries
AA-size alkaline batteries (4) or AA-size Ni-MH
rechargeable batteries (4) (sold separately)
CAUTION
• Never use the following types of
batteries, as they could cause
serious problems such as battery
fluid leakage or overheating:
1. Batteries with split or peeling
outer casings
2. Combinations of different
types of batteries or new and used batteries together
• Do not use manganese, Ni-Cd or lithium batteries.
• Use the same brand and grade AA-size alkaline
batteries as those supplied with the camera.

And on the next page it shows the polarity two up, and two down. If those weren't correct, you would be on reduced power.

How to change batteries.does it matter which AA batteries are used.

Basically, doesn't matter which manufacturer. Just don't try to recharge the ones not made for charging!!! You didn't specify the model of your camera, but best way is to buy SANYO ENELOOP charger with 4 AA rechargeable batteries, this way you can have a spare pack if your camera uses two batteries.

You should have two types of batteries.
2 CR123A batteries: (lithium)
4 AA batteries (alkaline or nickel-metal hydride)
Never use Nicad batteries. Never use different batteries together. that is for the four AA batteries. They should be the same brand and the same capacity.
The lithium batteries should be the same brand and same date.
Before changing batteries, always switch off the camera.

When you use rechargeable batteries, be sure you did charge them fully, before putting them in the camera.

The camera(Fujifilm Finepix AX 250) says that the life of brand new, never used LR6 AA Alkaline batteries is gone in 10 min-1hour, when the batteries have plenty of life left. The camera takes 2 AA LR6...

A search of the Fujifilm website provided no answers. Try cleaning the battery contacts in the camera first with a pencil eraser and then with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol. Also, I would switch to 3 or 4 sets of rechargeable batteries. That way, you always have a fresh set ready and you'll save money in the long run.

Fuji Finepix s700

I recommend to all my customers with AA battery life issues to try Energizer Lithium AA's. Virtually all battery issues solved. I think alkaline batteries are being manufactured poorly, these days, so even brand new they aren't great.

The camera we purchased won't take more than 4 0r5 pictures before it says low battery and won't take more pictures. recentlu when we put in new batteries it says low battery.

You did not say what kind of batteries you are using. If they are AA rechargeables they need to be recharged if they havenot neen used for a while. Say if you took 4 or 5 pictures, the batteries died, you charged them but did on use the camera again for several weeks. When you do they will be dead again, that in the nature of rechargables, they lose charge just sitting there. Solution find the Sanyo Enteloop or Rayovac Hybrid brands, these next generation rechargables have a shelf life similar to NiCads.
