Reboot system to factory setting

have you tried to record in sp then playback on same machine if this works then your drum for recording in lp or if yours has ep mode may need replacing as pre recordings are ok you need to get it serviced. hope this goes well

I guess, the easiest way to go is to get an universal remote control and try codes from the provided list until you run into a working one. Many universal remotes have a mode when you can try to click tens or hundreds time on a button (like UP button) until it accepts the code.

reset 1.hit the menu button on the remote play with the options there you will find it its a common task on these dvds!
to go region free
1.open it
2. hit 2812
3.press ok until you get 9
4. shutt off then reopen it
it should be region free i am not shure if it needs to be repeated!

Go to http://www.philips.com and search for your modal then look in Q/A's or just look in the manual for the factory reset....Usually found in the on-screen menu!

Did you follow these instructions exactly? If you pressed 9990, as you mentioned, it will not work. You need to press 99990. Do you see region "0" on the display?
start the player without any DVD in it.
open the lid.
while the lid is open press 9,9,9,9,0
you should see region 0 displayed.
close the lid.
Your DVD player is now region free.
note:
replace 0 with 1 to 6 at to set the wanted region number if needed.
