SOURCE: Remote Control for Philips DVP 320 DVD Player.

I guess, the easiest way to go is to get an universal remote control and try codes from the provided list until you run into a working one. Many universal remotes have a mode when you can try to click tens or hundreds time on a button (like UP button) until it accepts the code.

SOURCE: Want to unlock Philips DVD player (DVP320)

Did you follow these instructions exactly? If you pressed 9990, as you mentioned, it will not work. You need to press 99990. Do you see region "0" on the display?

start the player without any DVD in it.
open the lid.
while the lid is open press 9,9,9,9,0
you should see region 0 displayed.
close the lid.

Your DVD player is now region free.

note:
replace 0 with 1 to 6 at to set the wanted region number if needed.

If you are using the S-Video output, please try a different cable or first re-seat the connections at both ends.

Philips dvp 3020 dvd player will not play, the "no disc" sighn keeps coming on.

Try this. Wait for the "no disc" sign to appear, and only after that load the dvd. The 3020 I have works alright when I use this method.

Region free code

First please read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code
And this should also help.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft%3Aen-us%3AIE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7GWYA&q=Philips+DVP320+Region+Codes&btnG=Search
Some places charge rental stuff but a service manual will tell you how to do this and could cost somtimes around $20.00 less or more.
I hope this helped you a little.
