Sounds like your motor brushes are very worn.(Its a bit like grinding metal when a cars brake pads are worn.)Should only cost 10 or so pounds for new ones, access to the motor will be required.Unplug washer b4 changing.

Sometimes when the motor brushes are worn you will get sparking from the motor on a spin cycle, like yourself, but they will eventually fail to generate enough power for the drum to turn at all.I would suggest replacing the carbon brushes as soon as poss.

My GE washing machine wont spin and no water

SOUNDS LIKE 2 DIFFERENT PROBLEMS HERE, THE SPIN IS DICTATED BY THE TRANNY AND CLUTCH, USUALLY A BAD CLUTCH WILL NOT ALLOW SPIN OR LEAVE WET CLOTHES, BUT IF U HAVE BELT DRIVE LOOK AT BELT, AND MOTOR COUPLER, WHEN U SAY NO WATER COING OUT? U MEAN AFTER WASHING? OR BEFORE WASH CYCLE? AFTER WASHING THEN MAY MEAN U HAVE BAD WATER PUMP OR CLOGED WATER PUMP? IF BEFORE WASHING, THEN LOOK AT UR WATER INLET VALVE AND UR WATER PRESSURE SWITCH WHICH DETERMINES WHEN MACHINE BEGANS WASH CYCLE AT LOW ,, MED OR HIGH LEVEL, U CAN CHECK THESE WITH A MULTIMETER OR TRY A VISUAL AND LOOK FOR OBSTRUCTIONS IN WATER LINES AND HOSES

Washing machine trips my electricity as its about to spin,

There is almost certain to be a small leak which could be from a variety of things. The water sounds like it has found its way onto your motor windings. Once it starts burning, carbon is left behind on motor. The decision to replace motor and possibly hole in drum is the question.Need to weigh up if a new purchase is possibly the right way to go. Remove covers to see if the source of the leak is visible.

Won't stop filling. When I go through the cycles it continues to fill until I reach the final spin cycle then it will start draining and spin out.

Two common problems for this simptom:

If water stops filling when you disconnect the washer:
Change the pressure switch.
If water keeps coming in after you disconnect the washer:
Change the water valve.

GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND

My LG TROM wash googd but dosn't want to spin

Check and see what type detergent you are using. I bought regular liquid detergent and the machine began making noise during the spin cycle and the drum would not spin. I was informed that you have to use detergent that is labeled HE (High Efficiency). The regular liquid detergent will suds up during the wash cycle which then causes the drum to slip and not spin during the spin cycle. What you are hearing during the spin cycle is the drum slipping. Unplug your washer for 30 minutes and let it reset. This lets the suds dry out. Run a cycle with no spin to rinse out the drum. This should eliminate your problem. If you have clothes in the machine, run a cycle with no spin, just don’t add any more detergent. Then run the normal cycle with spin a second time with no detergent. I hope this cures your problem.

Timer stops at the end of wash cycle, won't began drain cycle

if it fills and agitates but stops at the drain/spin portion, it sounds like you have a problem with the lid switch. if it thinks the lid is opne, it will not drain or spin.

Loud noise during spin cycle

I bought the frigidaire affinity washer. It was quiet until it began the spin cycle, then it sounded like a jet taking off and began to bounce. Come to find out we set it up improperly. You must remove all shipping bolts on the back of the machine and make sure it is level. Ta Da!! it now runs perfectly quiet with little vibration.

Sparks coming from behind washer

sparks are never good, and neither are grinding noises. I suspect you might have had a motor failure. remove the belt from the drive (transmission) pulley and set the machine to spin. if you get the gringing sound or more sparks its time for a new motor
