We've had this camera for over a year and use it fairly regularly but we use it more lately as we get more comfortable with it. Decided to try some more advanced features instead of just point and shoot but all of these are accessed through the MENU button. I can change modes on the top wheel from AUTO to SCENE or movies, etc. but I can't access the MENU functions or use the LCD or ASM buttons. Everything else seems to function fine. We take pics, download, and delete. We just came back from vacation and several hundred shots just fine but I can't get menu to work. I know it did once because I set the image size when we first got it. Could I have turned this button off at some point? Can I reboot the camera? I have read through the manual and have tried removing the batteries and reinserting them. Samsung's website takes me to a nonexistent website when I try to contact them for help. Is this thing dead?
Take the battery out for while and replace it, to see if it 'resets'. If it does not then there is something you are missing- check the software Cd- there is usually a more detailed manual in PDF format. Failing that perhaps it is sick- a repair would not be a economical thing I guess.

This is usually caused by a defective CCD image sensor and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.
