yes motor running. do not have problem hearing it at all. sounds normal but constant. If i may add to Q, is it common for problems to start once ice maker is hooked up because this is why my husband did not want to and didn't hook up ice maker, but after 6 years i got my bro to do it and wouldn't ya know we now have a problem with freezer !? thanksyes motor running. do not have problem hearing it at all. sounds normal but constant. fan motor is running. It's been a couple hrs since i lifted bar to stop ice maker and took out the ice cube tub, so i just put ice tub back in place and set bar back in position to make cubes again. not sure where underside of ice maker is (dah?, sorry) but assuming it should be in mode to make cubes to determine whether heater is stuck or not???fan motor is running. thanks for your help. we had someone look at it that was going to help my husband replace part and he believes that something got stuck in chamber and locked up compressor. He said it's a rotary compressor. It's all almost chibberish to me, but bottom line, we are checking a couple places for prices on compressors, namely, repairclinic.com. We do appreciate your help. One thing that may have caused problem is that in 6 yrs I have never vacuumed behind and it had extreme amount of giant dust bunnies. I am still curious if hooking up ice maker contributed or was it just coincedental that something went wrong just 4 wks after. I also remembered one time the bar was stuck to an ice cube and was making a noise because it couldn't lift to release cubes but probably kept trying to produce more cubes??? Thanks again and if you have an more input I would appreciate it. thats a very interesting comment. Are you sure? So not to offend this person (uncle), what can we look at to be sure. If I could replace relay and be done with it believe me that's what I would want but when uncle looked at he started complaining about the compressor being a part made in Isreal (non-american made) and that it had four wires. He couldn't believe relay had plastic tie, like what cops cuff with now, attached. So can you tell me how to be sure what we are dealing with? thanks tamthats a very interesting comment. Do you see any ice buildup on the back wall of the freezer?

Feel the underside of the icemaker and see if it is warm. There is a heater in the ice maker that may be stuck.
Also, may sure the fan motor at the compressor in back is running.Feel the underside of the icemaker and see if it is warm. There is a heater in the ice maker that may be stuck.

Open the freezer door and listen for the freezer fan motor you may have to hold the door light switch closed for it to run when the door is open.Is the freezer fan motor running?

Your clicking noise is a defective start relay on the compressor. It must be replaced. You can get the part and do it yourself. Just pay attention to the wires. Replace them on the new relay as they come off the old.
The relay is attached to the side of the compressor.
I would replace the start relay first. Especially if the start relay is white in color. It is not a rotary compressor.

The compressor is made in Brazil not Israel.Remove the relay from the compressor it will probably have a somewhat burned terminal on the relay(the little holes in the relay).
The 4 wires are 2 to a start/run capacitor and 2 incoming hot and neutral wires.
If you replace it with a factory relay, replace the capacitor also.
I would use a 3n1 hardstart kit.Don't start a family arguement, but I feel confident a start relay will correct the problem.
80% of my compressor service calls only require a relay.not the compressor.
But that still leaves a 20% chance for uncle. The compressor is made in Brazil not Israel.Remove the relay from the compressor it will probably have a somewhat burned terminal on the relay(the little holes in the relay).

P.S. The ice maker had nothing to do with the problem. Unfortunate coincidence.P.S. The ice maker had nothing to do with the problem. Unfortunate coincidence.

If the defrost thermostat is bad it will need to be replaced, otherwise you will have to continuously manually defrost the unit.
The noise you hear is probably the fan hitting the ice.
The defrost thermostat assists in melting that ice about every eight hours.
Up on the top right hand corner of your freezer, next to where the ice drops, there is a small black tube. That tube freezes and it will stop the ice maker from working. Take a blow dryer to it until you see the tube without the ice hanging from it. you will have to do this about once every 6 months. After paying for a repair man to come out and fix it, this is what he told me to do. Good luck.
You need to check out the back of the freezer. At the current status, it may be locked with ice. Have it defrosted or just have it melted away. Clean the coils and the entire unit. Either the drains were blocked by food debris or dirt causing water to accumulate and ice to form or the thermistor has been iced or is faulty or too much ice accumulated in the unit's coils.
nothing to do with light bulb - noise is probably fan hitting ice that has built up. to check, remove back panel inside freezer and check for ice build up. melt off with a hairdryer and get back to me if i'm right
hi thanks for your question. you have a no defrost problem. the cheapest part to replace is the defrost termination switch. located in the freezer., its clamped to one of the coils by the fan motor replace this part. see what happens thanks the appliance doc
its a kenmore side by side and ice is melting. frig side seems cold

Also, compressor says "embraco" and R134a. Relay is white.
Please send your model number.
