There are 4 different types of power chords for the 360. First you need to find out what console you have then you can find out what power supply model you need.

XBOX 360 disk drive

Happens to my old Xbox 360. Unplug the power cord from the wall and leave it overnight, then plug back in in the morning and see if it works. (If it doesn’t unplug again this time only for 5 minutes )

I have a red light on my xbox and it told me to look for consumer support. what do i do

How many lights are blinking??

Two blinking red light's on the power button means that your console has insufficient ventilation. The red light will continue flashing until the console cools down.

Let your console cool
  1. Turn off your console.
  2. Let your console cool for one hour.
  3. Turn your console back on.
If the solution worked, your power button should be green.

If your power supply cords are not plugged in securely, you may see one flashing red light when you turn on your Xbox 360 console.

Check out this site and follow along according to the symptoms face by the xbox360.

Red light flashes sometimes and not reading disks

Hi carla 0166,
Its not good news im afraid, that red light that flashes on the console is also known as the "ring of death".if one segment is red its not too bad but if its any more it wont work.
To get around this as daft as it sounds you need to overheat the xbox 360.
i know this as it has happened to me also.
simply switch the x box 360 on and then wrap a towel around it and leave for 30mins.
this will overheat the console and when switched back the red light should be gone.

I hope this has helped :)

Red Light on Plug in connecter thing

Sounds like there is something wrong with the Xbox 360 power supply, try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supply from the console and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet also unplug the Xbox 360 power supply from the power cord. Give it a minute then reconnect it all back, also try it on another wall outlet without any extension cord at all.

If it's still red that suggests fault with your Xbox 360 power supply so will need to contact Xbox 360 customer support if its under warranty they should be able to sort it out for you. If out of warranty it might cost you for a new power supply!

Red light on power brick

Hi ntwrk11,

This happened to me before also. What I learned is that this either means that your console AC adapter (the big power brick) is not getting enough power or is not properly plugged. If this is the case, I would suggest that your try plugging the console to a different wall outlet, and make sure not to use any UPS, surge protectors or power strips to plug in your AC adapter. See if that works.

Also please check the back of the console and see if the power connector at the back is firmly seated, and even if it' seated, I would still suggest that you reseat (unplug and replug) the power cord at the back of the xbox360.

If the above suggestions don't work, and you have another xbox360 or if you know someone who has one, it would be much better to try swapping AC adapters and see if you get a response if you try a known working AC adapter on your console and you will also isolate the problem if it's your game console or just your AC adapter that has the problem.

If all else fails, you may have to call up microsoft for further help and support, since your problem may require servicing of your console.

Hope this helps!

Peace! :)
