Question about Samsung Refrigerators

1 Answer

Samsung Quattro-Cooling RM255LABP Freezer at +20F

I have a Samsung RM255LABP Quattro-Cooling refrigerator.

The top-left freezer compartment will only cool to is +20F, despite the display indicating -14F. There is ice in the ice-maker tray, but no ice in the pull-out ice container.

The Arctic Select Zone, Fridge & Fresh Select Zone, all operate fine.

This fridge's Self-Diagnosis feature shows no faults, so all fans, sensors, defrost circuits etc must be seen as OK. Unplugging freezer sensor comes up in Self-Diagnosis as faulty sensor, proving sensor is OK.

The compressor is running, the freezer evaporator fan is running, the condenser coils are clean, and I have fitted a new control board. This fault existed before new board, and still exists after fitting it.

If I reset by unplugging/plugging in again, the display shows actual temperature in freezer, i.e. +20F, but that drops degree by degree on the display until it gets to minimum -14F, but freezer interior remains at +20F.

This is the exact same problem I have seen posted on another forum by someone else, and even the temperatures reported were the same.

Orrixcreek i have the same problem. how do you go into the samsung diagnostic? i pressed different buttons at the same time and they're giving me gibberish i dont understand. which specific buttons to press and what exactly do the codes mean? i called samsung and they told me the fridge was probably in "demo mode" that is used on the sales floor and they had me pressed the two left buttons for 6 seconds and a bleep occurred and the LCD went dim. it really didnt fix the problem.

Samsung RM255LABP/XAA freezer only gets to 27 degrees, won't harvest ice. Fridge and lower freezer work fine.

Ice cannot be produced at that temperature you're going to have to find out by taking the drawer out removal of the rear wall of the freezer and see if the evaporator is freezing over or is the condensate drain opening is blocked. Your model has dual evaporators and we need to see if your evaporator in the freezer is defrosting properly or if for some reason the defrost drain is blocked causing moisture to cover the fan causing a cooling problem.

I turned off the refrigerator and left the freezer door open so the coils and the vents could thaw out. The cold air was not getting to the refrigerator section because of ice blocking the vents.

Sounds like the evap fan is not running. The fan takes cold air from the freezer to cool the refer compartment. If the freezer is cold the compressor is running. Generally the freezer will stay cold since the cooling coils are there but it must have the fan working to get the air up to the refer area. Pull everything out the freezer and take the back panel off to view the coils and fan, etc. It's a simple easy job to change the fan. If you find the coils are a total block of ice then it's another problem... the defrost cycle isn't working. Sooo... see if the fan is running in the freezer compartment first. See http://www.partselect.com/Schematics/Maytag/AA43-57.gif for fan location, item 18 is the fan motor. Let us know what you find out.
