Microsoft Windows XP Professional With Servise Pack 2 (e8503040) for PC Logo
Tom Morris Posted on Aug 24, 2007

Themes continued.. I installed these themes. but when you try to use them only the background and cursers change. all the tool bars and skins change back to windows classic style. all the windows visual style files are in WINDOWS, RESOURCES, THEMES and in the theme folder. in the C , WINDOWS, RESOURCES, THEMES for example there is a folder named Tribute inside there are the folders Font, Screenshots, Wallpaper, Icons, Shell( normal colour, shellstyle.Dll), and a windows visual style file named tribute. outside the folder is the windows theme file named tribute.on right click properties themes on the desktop it comes up with the theme Tribute but on the preview pic it only shows the out line of the skin infront of the background. under apperence, colour scheme it has the name Tribute, but the box under Windows and Buttons is blank.

Hi, May be as Frankenstein says StyleXP would solve your problem, But you can try to change the performance setting, right click my computer>>properties>>advanced>>Setting(performance) and see if the "use background image for each folder" is ticked. otherwise you can tick all the checkbox and try it out with selecting your themes. There are different themes for different properties here you can check and download. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/desktop/default.mspx

Once those folders/files are in the themes folder, double click the msstyle type file. There you go ;)
